LINK

Our federal spending is a Democrat and Republican problem. Both parties love spending and both have got us into this mess.

Here is the US budget. I don't see how anyone doesn't get infuriated when looking at it. LINK

On average the American taxpayer works 4 months of the year to pay for government. 4 fricking months! Can someone tell what I'm getting for that money? Does the government grow food, build houses, what exactly does it do to enrich our lives? Hell, doesn't seem like they've even been building roads with that shite. Pure fricking robbery. LINK

Think about that when considering all the hard working families who are living paycheck to paycheck struggling to put food on the table, pay the bills, etc.

This is really a black and white issue. And until we stop idolizing the politicians on both sides of the aisle (cult of personality), and limit the power and scope of government, nothing else really matters.

If Barack Hussein O would not have doubled the debt ( went from 9 to 18 trillion) in his 8 piss poor years.

Hopefully when MAGA gets the trade deal done with the CHI-COMS we will see this start to see this dive down

Perfect. Let’s go back to Clinton era spending levels. All the gleeful lefties here agree? SO. Disingenuous. It ALL boils down to: “orange man bad”.

Trump sucks on spending as much as the rest of them. Very disappointing. If he gets reelected and doesn't do something about spending, I'll never be convinced something can be done. Because the next handful of presidents will be career politicians, and we know those frickers won't give a shite.

Buy stuff now, because the deficit will eventually cause hyperinflation and the money you saved will become worthless.

Of all the lies on this board against Obama, this is always the best one.

Takes the recession impact on the budget deficit that was created during W.'s presidency and places it on Obama, as if it was Obama's fault that the country fell into massive recession in 2007-2008 (when he wasn't POTUS)

They never mention that Obama drove the deficit down from 1.3 trillion with Bush's last budget (2009) and got it in the 400 billion range in multiple years.

He did that with a republican congress that would not let him move tax revenue back up on the top 2% of the wealthiest people who don't need the money.

Had Obama had a democratic congress in any of his last six years, he could have possibly gotten us back to surplus as did the democratic president before him.

The economy would have thrived even more than it did.

At least Obama got his very solid economic numbers honestly, not blowing up the deficit to over a trillion.

We have a revenue and spending problem of which both parties are guilty of not addressing. I am a proponent of a balanced budget which is a traditional Republican philosophy in which Trump and the Congress is failing miserably on. The massive tax cuts especially for the corporate tax rates and continuation of loop holes has created a revenue shortfall that even a strong economy can’t solve with defense, social security, Medicare, and Medicaid taking up the vast majority of fixed expenditures from my view, We need to up the corporate rate to about 29% and shave significant outlays for non essential programs, and crack down on massive waste with maniacal auditing of every federal dollar appropriated. The deficit is a huge problem.

No one has the balls to gut entitlement spending and this country will collapse before anyone does.

In fact, a lot of complete idiots want to INCREASE entitlement spending...its never going to stop.

You admitted the deficit is a huge problem, then admitted what is the biggest cause of that problem and then proposed solutions that dont address that main cause? What in the blue frick?

2009..That was Obama. The deficit was 1.3-1.4 trillion that year because of Obama's $800-900 billion stimulus package which passed by the DEMs in congress in spring of 2009.

We have a spending problem.. The revenues to the federal government went up, as the always do, after a tax cut because of increased economic activity.

The problem is spending. It is caused by corruption and greed. And the belief that we Americans need a Big Brother.

What we Americans need is Freedom and Liberty and small government.

Show me anywhere in the entire world where you can walk into the wild and find the mesmerizing abundance of variety of produce growing wild and let’s revisit your “does the government grow food” question.

Pygmalion has a solid post here based on fact in which Obama actually did a credible job based on the recession hand and unfounded Iraqi war that he inherited. Also, Clinton created a surplus during his tenure. I am not a Democrat, instead a registered independent, liberal on some issues and conservative on others. My view is that we are allowing Trump to jack the deficit to unprecedented levels which is similar to how he has leveraged some of his own businesses with debt. Filing for bankruptcy and walking away from hundreds of millions of loans like Trump did with his casino and other bad business decisions is not an option for the US Government.

The China deal or no deal is not going to erase our massively growing deficit - perhaps balance of trade but not the deficit.

That’s the problem with entitlements.
You can’t take them back.
