The Brazen & Unilateral Escalation in Ukraine May Have Finally Reached a Critical Point

Since the invasion I have supported providing financial and military assistance to Ukraine (in the form of sharing intelligence and training only). Bi-partisan Congress has essentially agreed with this (yes, led by Mike Johnson).
However, Biden appears to be quickly moving us into a phase that many of us did not support. I am also surprised at Zelenskyy’s brazenness with ATACMs. We have advisors on the ground who should be able to reel him in. Instead, the escalation is astounding.
Biden should have left the Ukraine issue “uncongested” for Trump, especially given the message voters sent during the election. Instead, this is putting Trump (and Putin) into a corner where Trump’s promise to “end the war within 24 hour” is now basically impossible.
The only card Trump will have left is to (hopefully) leverage China to pressure Putin the end the war.

There’s just no way we would return nuclear weapons to Ukraine, not now.
If Ukraine had nukes, they would have already been justified in using them (using our own standards for employment - any invasion that presents an existential threat).

That rhetoric is dangerous AF.
The suggestion that we would/should park a nuke on Russia's front door is idiotic.

Just look at all the other ridiculous shite our government is doing... to say "there's no way" is absurd.
There's no way they'd just let millions of criminals, fighting age males, and terrorists just come into the country. See?

Ukraine is the mouthy bitch at the bar who keeps writing checks she expects her boyfriend to cash for her

We don’t allow Poland to host nuclear weapons, but you think we’d allow Ukraine to, in the midst of them being invaded by another nuclear armed nation? Also, do you think we just took the nuclear weapons from Ukraine, and stockpiled them somewhere?

It’s nice to see you reflect on this and admit it is now an extremely dangerous situation
If you had any wisdom though you would have seen this as the inevitable outcome over 2 years ago. There was never a responsible way for us to be involved in this.

Sounds like we need a reset button then.
We need to be Evaluating ANYTHING we give them:
Money
Weapons
Intelligence
Sounds like we don’t trust them very much. No need to escalate one iota beyond today.

Don’t tell him, tell the New York Times
And their nukes were returned to Russia, not the US. They were Soviet nukes

Giving nuclear weapons to Ukraine is beyond dAF

That’s exactly my point. The article is claiming that the US is talking about returning Ukrainian nukes, but how would we return the nukes, when they were and never have been in our possession.
Article reeks of fake news.

Unfortunately, it will not work out that way.

I noticed that too, that’s certainly the way a layman would interpret that passage, but it’s not exactly how it’s worded. I can’t tell if they worded it that way to be intentionally misleading or not. Like it should say “return the nuclear weapons”, but instead it says “return nuclear weapons”
So technically it’s not completely wrong
And yeah it’s fake news, it’s the New York Times

These increasingly present pro-nuclear-war threads on the board are becoming quite disconcerting. Hopefully a comet takes us out or extraterrestrials intervene before the perma-conflict war pigs of the board get their wish.
I don't mind being disintegrated by black-matter-powered alien technology or vaporized from a natural galactic phenomenon, but I'll be damned if I want to go out being nuked because of a gay actor in Ukraine and a bunch of figs that cry when you get their pronouns wrong.
