The Black Israelites

Anyone who works in Chinatown in DC knows who they are. They like to show up outside of the Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro station on Fridays, particularly when the weather is nice. They use amplification and they're LOUD, especially if you walk on the sidewalk in front of them. Apparently, the ones I'm familiar with are a splinter group, the Israelite School of Universal Practical Knowledge.
Here are a few of my pictures that I took one day during my lunch break:

They are amazingly bad at apologetics, and quite amusing in interpretatkng the bible. They believe the story of slavery in Egypt is a prophesy about being sold into slavery in America.

These guys have been in DC for a long time. Of all the cities in the US they have the worst street people. In most places they want change and just piss on stuff, or maybe ask you where you got your shoes.

Lots and lots of foot volume and traffic, and they know their message will be heard.
Not sure what it's like in DC, but the super busy El stops in Chicago (Red Line Chicago and State stop, the Roosevelt stop for like 5 trains, the Loyola Red Line stop, and some others) attract radicals of all stripes all the time.

Because so many people going through the intersection. There are also some buses that stop there, like the infamous X2 crosstown bus.
I now use the 9th St exit to get to/from the Red Line. No panhandlers or Black Israelites there.
