I'm a staunch conservative on most matters. I wish those of my orientation were as open to honest discourse as much as they are about judging others they don't know.
I know many gays who are actually trending right as of late. They feel like the democrat party is leaving them behind and they are starting to get tired of all the identity politics from the left.

Exactly.
And let's be honest: gays are not a marginalized demographic anymore. We haven't been for a long time. In many ways, we are now "privileged" in society (unless of course you're a gay conservative, then the conservative adjective automatically Trumps (
) the gay adjective and you are demonized). Liberals love to categorize people and assign degrees of victim-hood. Conservatives want what's best for everyone. While I certainly don't agree with conservatives on everything, it's a no-brainer to me.

One of my biggest regrets in life is not having the understanding or courage on how to talk a closeted fraternity brother. We all knew he was gay but neither he nor us would talk about it.
When he came out it was so anti-climatic. I was meeting with him about starting a business. He said before we get too far I have something important to tell you. He said he was gay. I said, "No shite. I've known for years. Now can we talk about the business."
God rest his soul, he was one of the best humans I've known and who he liked made no difference. God gave him overtime with us as he had a pig heart valve replacement that eventually wore out.
