Every store I've been in has a sign out front averaging their most basic entry level jobs that start at $20-25 an hour. Now I'm seeing highway billboards with the same message.

And they still manage to have the cheapest gas and immaculate restrooms. All without a government regulation mandating it.

So your argument against a 20 dollar an hour minimum wage is there is an entity that uses it by choice and produces better outcomes than competitors as a result?

My argument is that the free market works. Much better than government mandates.

It will be predictable to watch. There is no one more loathed by the masses here than the working poor.

Sometimes the free market works. Sometimes the free market crashes the whole economy.

Those companies that pay $20 dollars an hour hire people WORTH $20 an hour and thus can outperform the competition.

You mandate it and people worth $8 get paid $20. Everything goes down hill from there.

This really shouldn’t be too hard.

Everyone who made it to the second lesson of an introductory economics class knows that the only thing accomplished from raising minimum wage is a loss of jobs.

I dont disagree

But it's a double edged sword. If you pay someone 8 dollars an hour you as the employer are setting the expectations low by what you're offering to pay.

Our problem isn't minimum wage. It's the standard of living we've allowed the parasites to get used to through free shite. Our folks on welfare EBT Medicaid section 8 live better than 95% of the planet. That's the problem. Free shouldn't equal above average it should equal bare minimum. That would incentivize people to get off free shite and not make it a lifestyle.

There should never be a minimum wage. It is the opposite of a free market system. The market shout dictate wages. Period. It is the equivalent of pouring sugar into a gas tank.

Mandatory wage of $20 is ridiculous. However, Buc-ee’s is free to pay what they want to pay. They are very successful business that kicks a little more down to their employees. Kinda like profit sharing. On the other hand a business that is struggling shouldn’t be forced to pay a mindless, lazy, moron $20 an hour.

Businesses that are struggling are usually the cheap bastards that don't want to pay anyone

Then they will not survive. That is how our system is supposed to operate.

Yet you are intimating requiring a wage of $20/hr would not negatively affect that, or up and coming local businesses?

Jobs worth $8 dollars inherently are for those that are at the low end - whether that’s young high school kids, lazy people, those coming out of prison/off drugs, etc.

Those companies willing to pay $20 have the pick of the litter because they can be selective.

$8 an hour jobs are plug and play and there is a vast number of workers. A lot of them coming and going from competition as a lot of those jobs require the same “skills.”
