The Dems will be fine and get power back eventually, maybe 2020, probably 2024.

Republicans rule by legislation.
Democrats rule by appointing Judges who interpret the law in their favor.
Trump is stacking the court with judges who believe in the Constitution.
If the left regains power in 2020, which is iffy at this point, they are still powerless to run over the folks as did Obama and Biden.

People were saying the same about the Dems in the mid-90s. It’s a pendulum.

There's no historical comparison to the depravity of today's hard left. Ordinarily after a couple of cycles of rejection the moderates of a Party wrestle control away from the bombthrowers and the the Party shifts to the center. It's tough to see these crazies ever getting on board with that. History says they will but I'm not sure history has ever seen this kind of crazy amplified by a villainous MSM.

There is no historical comparison to mobilizing the radical left into an organized screaming mass

I predict a split in the Dems because their radical left will be unsatisfied with the results of Dem leadership and demand the outcomes they desire

The beginning of the end of the Democrat Party?
That's been tossed around for decades, but it might be true this time.

In the past, the party was a lot more similar to Republicans than it was different; Southern Dems (Blue Dogs) who were probably more conservative than Northeastern Republicans. That's gone away now.
It also had the unions and other blue collar guys, who viewed the Republicans as the party of the elite. That's also gone now.

Now, speaking from the point of view of a 50 yr old who's been a registered Dem all my voting life- the Republicans are the defenders of mainstream, traditional American morals and values, and the Dems are now the party of those who want to tear it all down.

Hell, it's not like Trump is doing anything that your average mainstream Dem in the 80's or 90's wouldn't support. He's fighting to restore American independence in industry and resources like steel... that's apolitical at the highest level. That's simply a matter of national security. The Dems would have supported that too, and just simply tried to leverage more income to the working grunts (keep the unions happy).
Similarly, rampant undocumented immigration was opposed by the Dems, as it undercuts the unions.

This current manifestation of the Dems aren't the party of Labor, they are merely the party of fudging numbers to stay in power. They don't benefit anyone who's a citizen. People see that now.

Let’s hope not!! Why? What we have here is a Godsend - a complete clusterfrick of anarchy and skyscreaming dragging down or keeping the moderates at home, or worse (better), opening their minds to things more Right leaning.

Naw, let’s hope this keeps up and do what we can to help that happen!

No, we wouldn't be that lucky. But they are kidding themselves if they think TRUMP isn't getting re-elected and the way they are going they may lose the House after just two years.

They can't even pass a resolution in the House of Representatives reprimanding a blatant racist* because too many Democrats are apparently okay with Omar's particular brand of racism. That's insane.

* - Let's be honest. Who here doesn't know that this bigoted witch hates more than just Jews? I guarantee you she also hates white people, Christians, conservatives, and basically anybody who is pro-Western.

This little demon is Exhibit A for why we need strict immigration laws, and we need to rigidly enforce them. Seriously, I wonder what percentage of Minnesota has turned into Little Somalia?

Maybe. It just feels like they've veered too far left too fast.

I just can't imagine most Americans are focused on the things they are focused on. Post birth abortions, trans issues, reparations, open socialism, and the green new deal isnt exactly "big tent" policy.

he bumped his thread postulating a schism in the Democratic party resulting in a splintering of the entire party

the only thing "bold" is your incapacity for reading comprehension

I couldn't give a shite about either party, but they both have "schisms"

The loons vs the less-loons

I wish they'd all splinter

But the party he predicted would suffer catastrophe and splinter easily took over the house

So go frick yourself

I expected the dems to be in shambles after Hillary lost, but these new developments are hilarious.

True.

Has anybody read the reason why they didn't censure or write a nasty gram to Omar today? Pressure from AOC from what I gather.

ETA: They weren't even putting her name in the nasty gram, FFS.

And here we go.

just saw this...Kamala thinks Omar is at risk for violence, freaky friday it shall be. It's getting frightening Omar needs reported to the SS or FBI (SEE the video thread of her) and Harris defends her saying she is at risk?

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) defended Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) on Thursday as the freshman congresswoman endures a storm of controversy surrounding her criticism of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and Israel as well as accusations of anti-Semitism.

Harris, who is running for president in 2020, wrote in a statement obtained by HuffPost that the continued attention directed at Omar, one of the first two Muslim American women to serve in Congress, puts her at risk of possible violence.

"We all have a responsibility to speak out against anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, homophobia, transphobia, racism, and all forms of hatred and bigotry," Harris said.

"But like some of my colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), I am concerned that the spotlight being put on Congresswoman Omar may put her at risk," she added.

Her statement echoed that of the CBC's chairwoman, Rep. Karen Bass (D-Calif.), who said Thursday that the attention from the media and from her fellow lawmakers, both Democrats and Republicans, was "inappropriate."

“I think it's inappropriate to just focus on one person. I absolutely do," Bass said.

Harris's fellow 2020 contender Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) also defended Omar on Thursday, calling the attention surrounding the freshman congresswoman an attempt to silence legitimate criticism of Israel.
