Think that we just became co- signers for the Argentines because they are deadbeats.

Of course, they and Brazil follow it up by inking a deal with the ChiComs for soybeans thereby freezing out US farmers

You really don't know what you are talking about. It's not about the ChiComs moving in. No one in Washington is really worried about that. If Milei fails and Argentina tanks and defaults, you have bigger problems down there.

Unfortunately with the Argentines you probably get neither.

Better than the Iran bailout by Obama/Biden

Other option is to give it to the Chinese if we don’t keep the conservative government afloat. We need conservatism to spread in a Latin America.

His party will get hammered in this next round of elections. The Argentinian’s feel like they are becoming the 51st state of the US. Which they do not want, their media is much like ours in painting Milei as a dictator.

Sir, are you an expert on Argentinian public sentiment? Because we already have SFP.

If Trump gave that money to MAGA it would make us much greater again, but apparently Argentina is top priority this week.

Yea but you didn’t answer my question. How does Argentina make your life so terrible and miserable here in America?

When you woke up today and looked in the mirror, what were a few things on your mind that you were worried about today about Argentina? Did you avoid going to places today because of Argentina? Were you worried that Argentina was going to kill you today? Were you afraid that you might get raped or murdered today from Argentinia? Were you worried that someone from Argentina might be fricking your wife today?

I’m just asking trying to be nosey, but how has this insane deal with Argentinia destroyed your life today?

If you dont know what you are talking about, maybe you shouldnt embarrass yourself by posting
quote:

China accused the US of Cold War-era intervention in Latin America after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent suggested Argentina’s president was “committed to getting China out.”

Bessent made his comments on Fox News on Thursday as the US offers a $20 billion US financial lifeline to Argentina and President Javier Milei prepares to visit Donald Trump at the White House

China has been using this strategy for over a decade now, Belt and road initiative

They seemed highly pissed that Trump successfully is using it to go around their strategy. Calling it cold war tactics should tell you all you know about where China thinks they will end up economically, during Trumps administration

Let the man cook

This is foolish. Thinking that the ChiComs are going to take over down there. Argentina=/= Africa or Sri Lanka. The greater fear is that the currency tanks, inflation goes on a tear and the government collapses with not even the military is left as an institution to fill the void.....a failed state.

Would you feel better if I listed all the nations China has subverted via debt service that those nations can’t repay?

I don’t feel bad. I just don’t like our country funding losers and part of the trump allure for me was that he wasn’t going to run off and bail out a country like Argentina.

I’m not opposed to a quid pro quo though. If we got all of Argentina’s natural resources then it could be a great trade

I just hope this doesn’t turn into a bunch of countries coming to us and putting a Chinese gun to our head or else…

My SO is an Argentinian and working the elections next weekend. She is in La Plata and Milei is going to get hammered in this upcoming election.

I hope he doesn’t, but the sentiment there is not positive. He hasn’t slowed inflation, cost of living for Argentinians is through the roof. Job market is shite, the majority of the country, even educated ones are struggling.

He has tremendous economic hurdles to solve. Which will require foreign investment and industrial expansion. The problem is Argentinians don’t want foreign investment because they feel it erodes their sovereignty.

It's the accumulation of dumb spending.

You might disagree but just because one discrete piece of dumb federal government spending does not immediately effect my life it doesn't mean I have to like it or rah rah cheerlead it.

It will effect us but the impact will be delayed. It's called the Cantillon Effect.

Additionally the optics are terrible. It's such an America Last policy and a big frick you to American people.

Is that part of the deal? Are we going to get something for the pesos we buy and will be inflated out of existence at a minimum rate of 43%?

At least sell us Argentine beef at a 43% discount.
