The answer to fixing Federal political corruption.

I have been trying to come up with a solution for the current dysfunction in DC politics and the two tiered system of Justice that is destroying all our institutions from the inside.
The separation of powers from the executive branch to the judiciary is no longer there and it cannot be fixed without a drastic change. The correct way to fix this would be to revert back to the SEnate being appointed by the governors and the house and Senate reopening the congressional jails and holding people accountable for perjury and contempt. We know that is not going to happen.
So here is the fix. Congress establishes a Judicial oversight department that consist of the 50 State Attorney Generals or Appointments by the Governor's. This state appointed representatives meet for quarterly conferences with the committee leads rotating after each quarter. With a simple majority vote, this department has the full power of the US Attorney General to open investigations, appoint special counsels, and prosecute cases. They can appoint their own investigators and prosecuting attorney's.
If this could happen it would end nearly all political corruption because it would create a new authority outside of DC and outside of the federal governments control. It would make state elections more important.
We would have our circular firing squad that puts the states back on somewhat equal legal grounds as the federal DOJ.

Outlawing lobbyist would be a great start. A fourth branch of government dedicated to oversight once these bills that are passed would be another (how you keep that branch from being corrupt as well……..who knows?).

I think the easiest way to fix the corruption is limiting a politician's family's net worth. Take away the incentive to profit off of screwing over the people you're supposed to be representing and you'll see a lot of people drop out when the financial gains aren't there.
Most politicians would quit well before them and their spouses' net worth was limited to $5m which is hilarious

anybody you put up there to hold others accountable will be corrupted and compromised. op is full of naivete. only God can fix it by destroying them.

Fixing the media would go a long way towards fixing our government. The biggest problem I see is that the media is controlled by the Government. If that weren't so, their corruption would be exposed by the media and dealt with, lest the dumb asses in DC want pitchfork mobs on their doorstep.

Term limits and zero compensation for elected officials. It has to be voluntary. You want to lead and represent the people well you do it as a service to your country. A civil war would also work for awhile then eventually we would end up in the same place.

The most obvious way is to vote them out and promote ones that actually push to insure our laws from ground up, city council, local politicians . And when that doesn’t work we they are out the door immediately not waiting for another election
