I can see it now. A car thief can claim to be a squatter who rented your car and you have to file for a repossession order in a terminally slow court to get your car back.

Last I looked, a house is worth a lot more than most cars.

Also, as the article is presented this doesn’t sound like somebody that’s been there for 6 months. It sounds like they just popped in with a lease and said nope, I’m renting here.

LE shouldn’t be arbiters of these matters but the owner should get the benefit of the doubt. If it’s found they did have a lease and used LE to vacate the property….then the tenant should sue the hell out of the owner and owner charged with lying to the police. But the burden should be on the person waving around a document…not the legal owner of the property.

Allowing this kind of insanity to happen will lead directly to violence because lazy and stupid government allowed grand theft, fraud and trespass a way to flourish. When government is negligent or grossly incompetent to deal with real major grievances, many people take matters into their own hands in one form or another.
