Wellheads are freezing...that’s the issue. Storage was above the 5 yr historical, but it doesn’t appear that withdrawal is very efficient.

My power was off for 2-3 hours. Just kicked back on.

I’m in Dallas near Galleria.

We live in north Arlington about 15-20 mins from Cowboy stadium and thankfully our power is still on. My oldest and her BF live in a apart between us and the stadium and they have been without power since 2 am. Most of that area is out. I just got back from picking them and their 2 cats up to stay with us for a couple of days.

We got 4 inches of snow on the ground and it is still really cold even with the sun out.

Crazy I’m the original OP and gave the heads up about the Power situation and got down voted. Like I said be careful with your power consumption because rates are going to be crazy this week.

The power companies use natural gas to produce power. Most coal plants are gone now. Has nothing to do with who has natural gas at their home.

Wind farms are frozen over and solar as well so no power from it but most companies renewables only generate 3-5 percent of power consumption.

Yes, both situations are going on simultaneously.

I heard the windmills are freezing up.

Yes fixed contracts controlled by FERC. They will not punish power companies for providing power and lose money.

All I was trying to do is point out the obvious is natural gas is that high it is going to be pushed down to the customer. Natural gas provides about 70 percent of generation. 3-5 renewable (solar and wind) 10 percent hydro and the rest coal.

Because of deregulation this issue will be resolved quickly. Just this past month wholesale electric prices actually went negative in the panhandle as wind producers had much more problems suction than anticipated.

There may be transmission issues but generation issues will correct themselves very quickly.

Correct. Wholesale generators had to by a lot of high priced fuel. They charged ERCOT and ERCOT gets the money from retailers who got caught short, but retail customers are largely on fixed deals so they can't get it from their customers.

So, here comes bankruptcy for the retailer but the ERCOT bill still needs to be paid. There is a mechanism for that called 'uplift' so under the Public Utility Commission rules ERCOT tacks that bill on to all existing customers as a tax on their bill no matter what retail deal they had.

The people will have to pay, they always do.

Texas is probably paying high dollar to other power grids for generation now as well. Like I said NERC and FERC will not let the power companies foot the bill. National security and all.

As for those in the southeast I will have more info today sometime about generation. Wholesale energy is normally sold around $35-$50 per megawatt. Bet it’s going crazy right now. Probably minimum of $400 per megawatt (I don’t know that as a fact just a guess)
