But again: What specifically would you have Abbott do, beyond the steps he’s currently taking?

Take over the border with his resources. Kick the Fed out! Challenge the Fed. Nut up besides sending illegals to cities when they can travel where they want.

Cartels making TX look like pussies. Austin/Beto strong, eh?

How?
Fire upon them, a la Fort Sumter?
I’m not being deliberately obtuse; I’m genuinely trying to understand your position.

So what about Beta makes you excited?

Gun bans? Groomers? Even more open borders?
He thinks he's cute but broken, like Beta would have dated him in high school, and he would heal Beta's brokenness, and they could have moved to Vermont and worn matching turtlenecks and adopted an African baby (but not too dark). He has his own fantasy that mirrors "Somewhere That's Green".

I am not sure you understand whose job it is to do what. While Abbott is far from perfect, this is not on him.

Do I wish he would put a call out and deputized and/or make Rangers out of any who would volunteer time at the border and allow those deputies/Ranger to do what needs to be done to control the border? Sure, but that would turn ugly as hell in about 10 minutes.

Yep. If the Fed will not protect citizens of the US, then the states need to nut up. Not that hard.

Yes, yes it is. If the governor of Texas as a state of these United States sent citizen volunteers (let's use the old term - a militia) to the border to enforce what is the feds job the federal government would immediately execute military operations against those volunteers.

I have no doubt. Now if Texit were to be done, then the president of Texas can choose to do so...

This is what this country needs. If you don't recognize it at this point, you are just in denial and trying to preserve your comforts

Then the question is, would American military soldiers shoot at fellow Americans in Texas on behalf of this big gay Federal Government?

Trick statement. How can state law interfere with enforcement when enforcement isn't happening?

Abbott, send the illegals to Iowa w/ the quickness. They need some corn labor for free. Oh, but China and Gates are buying up farmland all over...

That’s certainly a relevant question being unpacked in detail, Ponchy Tiger.

Every cell in my body agrees with this premise, Taurus.

But the framers of the United States Constitution included a specific definition in Article 3, Section 3, which stated that, “Treason against the United States shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.”

Now whether or not treason can be committed by a political body rather than by an individual (and therefore cannot be committed by a State) is a point of debate.

TEXIT is not levying war against the United States, unless one considers casting a ballot as an act of war. This is why divorcing from the US is our (Texas’) only realistic course of action.

I appreciate the discussion.

If Texit were to ever happen I would hope Louisiana can join ya"ll. I love my country and am a proud Veteran but unless there is a complete 180 I can't see how the USA can be saved.

My question would be can the feds stop it? technically speaking is their a strip of federal allocated land on the border or does Texas own it or does private land ownership go directly to the border? If private ownership goes to the border I am sure private owners would be glad to allow Texas to build on private land. Feds can't stop that

Can't remember the specifics and how much of a stretch of the border it is, but iirc TX "gave" the feds land to build the wall under Trump, but it got stonewalled. Feds/Trump didn't give it back, so now that TX wants it back Feds/Biden won't. Again that's a simplistic version of what I recall hearing a while back.

I think Abbott has failed at proving he is a presidential candidate, but I think the border is hard to fix when the feds are against him. The buses to lib cities has been a winning solution for sure, but seems to be the only thing TX has come up with that the feds haven't been able to stop via some judge.

How about we stop paying for a war that was lost before it started in Europe and secure ourselves first. There is an idea.

A year ago I would have said no. Now I would say some will, some won't. I know the FBI would relish the opportunity to kill off a significant portion of "wrong thinkers".

Why should Abbott use my money to build an international fence?
Is that not the responsibility of the federal government?
After all, the US Gov has stymied states from doing anything, citing the federal government as having all authority (over states) with regard to immigration.

Better yet … how about we use Massachusetts tax payers’ money to fund it?
Or Oregon?
Or Ohio?

Something I'd be curious about. What if Abbot started an effort to finish the wall in Texas, and opened the project up for private/direct contributions. I'd contribute. I bet millions of Americans would. Make it tax deductible. Texas (and AZ) shouldn't have to shoulder the financial burden by itself, so let supporters across the country help out.

EKG - probably agree with you on almost everything but pointing out entrenched federal neglect is small consolation to Texans.

Defy the feds, build the wall, and then sue to recover costs at a more favorable time.
