Congressman Ralph Abraham pens a letter to Tesla founder Elon Musk inviting the tycoon to relocate his California based company to north Louisiana.

Musk reopened his Tesla production facility in spite of a local stay a home order that shutters all non-essential businesses and is facing potential legal action.

“They know that they are in a hostile business climate out in California, my lord they are almost getting railroaded out of the state by trying to do what is right, and that is putting people back to work,” says Abraham.

Abraham asks Elon Musk to open Tesla in N. La.

Nah. Huntsville would be a good location though.

Yep, Elon Musk is going to escape tax-happy, corrupt state, with a Dem Governor to go to another tax-happy, corrupt state with a Dem Governor.

Alabama won’t be in the hunt either.

The educated highly motivated potential workforce is hard to overlook, though.

Only if Texas annexes it.

Would be cool to see that. Property tax in TX is tough, so could see LA, MS, or AL, be in the running for facilities with support staff in Texas.

fun fact

Henry Ford operated an assembly plant in St. Bernard Parish in the 1920s.

No one in the South is, Texas included. Musk doesn't just want tax abatements... a standard deal when luring auto production facilities in the South... he wants outright subsidies. No one is going to give them to him.

Doesn't Shreveport own a giant GM assembly plant, already with a rail line to it and plenty of space for parking cars?

Is the old General Motors plant in Shreveport still around? FWIW, Tesla’s current plant in Fremont is an old General Motors/Toyota joint venture plant than Musk had retrofitted.

I don’t see their HQ leaving the Bay Area. I could see them opening up another production facility in Tennessee or Texas. Louisiana is unlikely given the bad business climate.

Even Ohio or Indiana would have a better shot than Louisiana.
