Is it too much to ask that we treat Israel...

Nope. That’s what we SHOULD do. I’ve hammered Israeli Statism and specific issues I have disagreed with Israel on 1000 times on this board as well as the propensity for western Jews to gravitate towards Cultural Marxism. I have CLEARLY stated and argued against Israel bombing Iran. I have argued for them to take all kind of shite in the name of the larger peace. I’ve argued on behalf of Jordan numerous times.

But apparently it’s too much to discuss the pros and cons without having to wade through Stormfront level garbage. “ Magic blood “ “ dual loyalty “ ? It’s anti Semitic garbage and it doesn’t belong on this site. That you guys can’t tell the difference is on you and to your shame.

Obviously a joke to trigger people. What’s the genesis of that joke, anyway?

How is “dual loyalty” anti-Semitic?

This was a quote from HHtM. He stated that either he (or perhaps his father) believed that Jews have magic blood. Personally, I find that hilarious.

Nah, I think we're on the same page other than the part where I feel like every criticism of Israel is met with a convenient canard accusation. It's almost too convenient. THat's what bothers me. I have no issues with Israel, but I'm now being lumped in (even by you) with storefront level garbage for criticizing certain aspects of our relationship with them. When you can't discuss certain topics for fear of being labeled a racist, that's a problem.

This problem doesn't exist when we talk about China, France, England, Russia, etc.

I don’t have any beliefs about it. It’s either true or it’s not true, and I have never spent a second thinking about it before this thread.

That’s almost 17% of Congress, and that seems a little high.

If you would CORRECT THE FACTS as I do by those on your side of the argument, that would be a more plausible assertion . But when you attaboy people who make the McCarthyite dual citizenship ( dual loyalty ) charge to go unchallenged, you undermine your own claims of “ having no issues with Israel”.

Let’s start with a simple one ; Do you believe 89 members of Congress have dual citizenship with Israel ? If so, will you present evidence? If not, will you repudiate this canard ?

And then we can talk the actual pros and cons of our biggest alliance in the Middle East.

And what mutual defense treaty are we party to?

Because there isn’t one.

We aren’t allies.

I don't believe that 89 members of congress have dual citizenship. In fact, I'd rather folks had dual citizenship because then it explains where their loyalties are. I think loyalty issues are much more subtle, and it's not limited to Jews or Israel.

Our alliances in the ME have resulted in near-constant chaos. I'm not sure if that's the best angle to take.

This is Jerusalems influence.

They believe a weak and divided Middle East is good for them. Even if that means little Jihadist statelets in places like Syria.

Agreed. So shut that brain-numbingly moronic Capelwood-level shite down so we can talk about a Big boy topic like Big Boys.

I will be happy to join in with the many issues I have with Israel. And I will note that rockets are flying into Israel AS WE SPEAK from Gaza.

A weak and divided Middle East IS good for them. An Israel Sunni “ alliance” ( or at least detente) is precisely where they want things. Because they believe their conflict with Iran is existential. It seems that YOUR government agrees with this assessment.

My government is populated with well greased morons who are incapable of anything like strategic thinking.

Our foreign policy hasn’t made any sense since James Baker left DC.

It hasn’t worked out for them.

They push us to topple Sadaam.

The get a new Shiite led government with close ties to Iran.

They try and topple the Ba’ath in Syria.

They end up, after years of war, with a Ba’ath government that is more powerful and more capable than before. And which poses a more serious threat to their security.

Same story in Lebanon. All of their efforts have been for naught, and have only made their security situation worse.

So, perhaps in theory, but if you look at the practical results of their policy, it’s backfired.

-

Every action has a reaction.

The recent air strike or perhaps drone strike in Baghdad was a huge blow to Baghdad’s pride.

Israel may have scored a putative tactical victory, me tough, but a strategic loss if Iraq actually invests in ADS.

Anyone who blames “the Jews” for the problems of the world is no different than all the other victim groups who blame others for their problems. I criticize empty accusations of racism across the board. This situation is no different.

Do you really think this congressman, whose family is from Taiwan, is a neo-nazi trying to to push anti-Jewish propaganda? Or is it more likely that he was simply opining that American politicians should look out for the American people as their primary concern? Then why are you jumping on board the censorship twitter mob to lob accusations of antisemitism? Do you really believe he is antisemitic, or just offering criticism? Replace Israel with the word China or Russia and ask yourself if the same mob would have attacked him.

Our president is accused daily of having dual loyalty this isn’t seen as a grave sin or hate speech. But some countries/groups are off limits. Tell me why

For thousands of reasons. Cultural Affinity being one of them. Judeo Christian connection as well as “ Western Democracy “ affinity. Respect for learning and knowledge affinity. Language, commerce, art, science etc . And of course because they are BESIEGED. And because we know what happened to them 1939-1945, when they were besieged. We understand the Ancient Hatreds. We understand the nature of Islam. The reasons are endless.

I want Israel to succeed . The same way I want Japan to succeed and Ireland to succeed and the UK to succeed . Because I have an affinity for Israel for 1000 different reasons . I am only asked my motives when defending this one country however. And I am only asked if I’m Jewish ( on this thread) with this one country . And With only one country do people make “ because Jesus wants it” references inferring I am a born again Christian waiting for Armageddon. So I get either a “You are a Jew” strawman or a “ You are a Christian Fundamentalist “ strawman . Nothing above Capelwood- level idiocy.

I tire of the lazy propaganda. Discuss Israel as we would discuss the UK or Japan or other allies. On the merits and without all the propaganda and Racialist double speak.

I NEVER called Lieu an antisemite and I don’t believe he is. That’s ludicrous. In fact I took pains to draw the distinction in my first post that interrupted this anti- Israel circle jerk:

quote:

That’s a prevalent TD trope as well. It’s the “ you are a racist “ of both the anti-Israel folks and the actual anti Semites- a strategy to both disparage the reputation of anybody who defends Israel and shut down any further discussion.

You may have legitimate claims against Israel, as I may have. But that doesn’t MAGICALLY NEGATE all the criticism of Israel that is actually anti Semitic. A lot of Israel’s critics, including many here ARE anti semites. To claim otherwise is ridiculous. When an alter shows up here with cut and paste Stormfront shite, makes 300 posts all anti Semitic in nature before getting banned we know what we are seeing. When We see posters lining up to affirm that garbage, we’d be crazy not to notice.

There is not an an anti Semitic website alive that does not endlessly repeat the dual citizenship/dual loyalty trope. A guy on this thread repeats it again to absolute silence. That’s a problem if you value truth over propaganda.

Lieu is the jackass who when questioning Mueller asked him if the only reason he(Mueller) didn't charge Trump was because of the OLC statement that you can't charge a sitting President.

He is the sole reason Mueller had to walk back his testimony after the morning session before the afternoon session began.

Also a combined 89 Senators and Representatives have duel US and Israeli citizenship. That statistic is not well publicized. There are links within that article to other websites corroborating that statistic.
89 of our Senators and Congress hold dual citizenship citizenship with Israel

ALL of which are Democrats, with the exception of one Republican and a couple of Independants. Interesting.
