Yeah right. He campaigned on the military being overcharged by contractors for equipment and how he was going to negotiate better deals, but this has nothing to do with him?

F-35 costs were going down by a ton whether Trump was in office or not. Now did his administration likely make things smoother? Sure I’ll give you that. But his Super Hornet shite was laughed at by anyone with a brain. 35 is the future fighter every branch of our armed forces and is being produced in MASSIVE numbers. Economies of scale.

It’s not a stupid post if it’s true. 
It’s not like the per unit cost of the 35 was ever gonna go up. Anyone who’s remotely familiar with JSF and the 35 knows that. Trump or no Trump the cost has been going down due to how many airframes are being manufactured.

While I upvoted, I’d argue about folks laughing at additional F-18’s. Regardless of the PNUC of F-35’s, in LRIP or not, their operating cost per hour is still outrageous. Barring a clash with a first rate power, the F-35’s capabilities aren’t unique and while role consolidation has many warfighting and cost saving implications for the future, the JSF is just one of the myriad of airframes the Air Force needs to upgrade. It’s one outstanding benefit is that it’s here now.
