Good Lord, people have been using this exercise as a teaching tool for at least 50 years.

That's exactly what I was referencing about teaching discrimination and racism. Her methods were about hypotheticals to tear down ridiculous assumptions. That video and method is responsible - that crap from the OP is not responsible and does not teach reality.

I’m so glad I chose to be a white male born in the US and the only right choices I had to make are... go to church and like women.

Good lord. That's your basis for saying this has been done for 50 years?
It would have been a much more accurate statement to say that 50 years ago a teacher once ran a single experiment based on eye color (which is hardly as divisive as race).

Since every kid in the class was White, she used eye-color as the random factor for discrimination.
SOKAL
By 1970, it had become so famous that PBS did a special nationally-televised documentary program on it, and she continued to use the exercise for decades. Many others have repeated the exercise since 1968.
Hell, it is taught in psych classes.

Teacher showed that discrimination for something beyond your control was wrong.
I have been told that being white and being straight and being a man is out of my control.
So why is every single entity hating on me for these qualities?

You should get out more.
If you can't see the difference between separating white students based on eye color for this experiment and what this teacher is doing then Lord help you because you really are a dumbass.

He's proved this over and over again!

I just skimmed the OP and did not read the linked article. I (mis)read it as the teacher randomly-assigning the kids to either the "privileged" group or the "targeted" group, and doing basically the same exercise that was first done 50 years ago in the PBS documentary.
I was mistaken. Apparently, she actually tried to tell given children that they were either "privileged" or "targeted" in their real lives. There is no valid educational basis for that.

Hank, you're correct about this technique being very old. The OP appears to be a variation. The original exercise that I recall was similar to 'Let's be handicapped today. I'm gonna tie your right arm and we'll see how you function until the end of school.'
They did race versions with the same theme. It's supposed to create empathy.

Sorry about the pejorative. I have no patience for this "critical race theory" bullshite -- nor should anyone else.
People are playing an extremely dangerous game with this collective guilt narrative they are spreading. I say that not because I am white, but because they are tearing our country apart and the end result is going to be tragic for everyone. In fact, it's not too hard to imagine how minorities will end up suffering the most.
Hell, we are already seeing it - crime is up dramatically in areas where the defund the police movement is most predominant. Agitators come in and destroy communities and when they are done they go home to the safety of their own homes.

Do me a favor. Remember this thread, the next time someone insists that I do not admit when I am wrong.

They did something like this when I was in elementary school while we were learning about the civil rights movement. One day we randomly came to school and everyone with blonde hair was the discriminated class. We had new assigned seats where we were all in the back of the class, we weren't allowed to speak or answer questions, had a separate table at lunch, etc.
This was 5th or 6th grade maybe, can't remember exactly. It was a pretty interesting day tbh.
Doing it for the reason and setting that teacher did it in, is absurd though.

In what way?
Umm what this teacher just did.
How do you think she's singling out oppressors without knowing these kids homelife?
By race and gender most likely.

The teacher who designed the exercise has said that she was very surprised to see the extent to which the designated "superior" group each day became vicious little beasts, even after they switched roles.
I am curious whether you saw any of that behavior in your experience. I've never spoken to anyone who participated in the exercise as a child.

Soak it in. This is the endgame:
White, Christian, heterosexual American males are the enemy.

I appreciate you're willingness to take another look at the two examples.
I agree that it is fascinating to see how people act in groups and the psychological phenomenon of how crowds are groups can quickly engage in conduct they would have thought unimaginable. It's similar to the guard and prisoner experiments.
I just hate to see the experiment being played out across all of Western civilization, with no system for putting on the brakes.
We have already seen that experiment played out many times during the 20th Century and we have the corpses to show for it. I'm convinced -- it can have horrid results and we can get there very quickly.
It's strange - everyone can agree that we don't need another Nazi Germany. But for some reason, the left thinks that no matter how far we move to the left we will never reach the gulags even though we history tells us that we definitely can.
The rhetoric being used today is similar the rhetoric used in the Soviet Union to dehumanize the "kulaks" and that ended in the starvation of millions.

That’s the most fricked up lesson I’ve seen yet
Wtf are we allowing to happen
She better face severe backlash/termination
