A teacher accidentally fired a pistol inside a California classroom while lecturing about public safety and injured three students, according to police.
Dennis Alexander was pointing the gun at the ceiling when he inadvertently fired it Tuesday at Seaside High School, said Abdul Pridgen, the city's police chief.
Bullet fragments ricocheted off the ceiling and hit a 17-year-old student in the neck, Pridgen said. Shortly after the incident, class resumed as usual.
The teen’s father, Fermin Gonzales, said he rushed his son to the hospital after the 17-year-old returned from school with blood on his shirt and a neck injury.

It is very strange that, since the idea was floated to potentially arm teachers, we have had two incidences of teachers discharging a firearm in a classroom (first Georgia and now California). Should I get my tinfoil hat out?

I like how you left out the part about him being a reserve police officer teaching about gun safety when the discharge took place. But I guess that doesn't fit the false narrative you are trying to create.

More kids will be killed by guns carried by teachers than school shooters.
Even trained officers are lousy shots in high stress situations.

That fits their narrative perfectly. This dude was more qualified than any teacher could be and still shot a kid.

Well, there's the problem.

But you don't see kids shooting up police stations.

Accidents happen.
That’s an unfortunate reality of life.
Hopefully everyone involved will make full recoveries.

well teachers have been able to carry guns in schools in some states in this country for years. So have more kids been killed by teachers or in school shootings? I'll hang up and listen.

Neither. Pieces of the bullet ricocheted and ended up in the kid’s neck. Just because he wasn’t trying to shoot him doesn’t mean he didn’t.

I've never been in favor of arming teachers because of incidents like this which will no doubt happen. A better solution is to hire armed guards. The downside to armed guards, however, is they stick out and a mass shooter will target them first.

How many kids have been killed by teachers carrying guns?

Technically he shot a ceiling.
Then somehow a fragment flew into the neck of a student, causing him to bleed, and nobody noticed it the rest of the day.

Dude is a cop. Only cops should have guns, right?

What part of my post makes you think I believe that? I’ll admit I think arming teachers is a ridiculous solution to the problem, but I don’t support any infringement on the 2nd.
