Even taking the violence element out, here's how it goes with people like that:
- They either cheer on or say nothing as the left opens the flood gates, grants legal status via no-vetting asylum, makes adjudicating deportations impossible, etc. for years
- Then Trump gets on the scene, tries to jackhammer away at the fortress they've built to protect an immigration scheme that serves NO ONE, and they stand in the way and scream murder and genocide and so forth
- While doing that, they claim they don't support illegal immigration, sure they voted for Obama and Biden but they believe in borders, even though they've never expressed it in any meaningful way.
- They go on to tell you that Trump needs to do it the right way, not be so scattershot or broad, let every exception swallow the rule as they ask him to navigate the impossible labyrinth of obstacles they helped construct to make meaningful progress.
Intellectual dishonesty is perhaps the most guiding principle of the modern left - after this, of course:

First for example, you presumably were not aware, when posting your very dismissive quip, that I have in-laws with the identical legal status you describe. You did not know that, did you?
Second, you are not aware of conversations I've had with those in-laws, identical to the conversation I suggested you have with your housekeeper. You did not know that, did you?
Third, you cannot even imagine the positive effect that conversation had, at least with my in-laws. You did not know that, did you?
In fact, you may well share goals with some of us whom you repeatedly dismiss. The difference is in our focus, not in intent. Rather it's a matter of focus on attaining goals, and resultant self-critique in goal failure. Skyscreaming does not get it.
