Trust me, we have had this conversation, and he was/is convinced that Trump was a disaster for the military and thought he saw a heavy erosion over Trumps 4 years. He believed Obama/Biden was responsible for the largest drawdown in troops in Iraq/Afghanistan and that Trump was a total incompetent.
Some people are just wrong, no matter how smart they are.

I assume, considering the environment at the time, I'm sure they thought Biden would keep the military out of fights. Especially with the media calling that Trump's action of sending a hellfire missile up Soleimani's arse was a stepping stone to WWIII.

I polling in the last election showed one of the biggest shifts to blue in the military in a very long time.
The military has gotten significantly more liberal over the past 15 years, to our detriment.
For the record, he is not a liberal. Hated Trump with a passion though and I never understood it. We had many arguments over it via Messenger.
