Just got an email from an af friend (at work so don’t have it in front of me,) C-17s flight planning to land there with just enough fuel to onload 640 evacuees and get off the ground and plan to immediately hit a tanker. So they’re taking off at bingo fuel over enemy territory with only one option. Anything happens to that tanker or anything on it required to pass gas and they’re fricked.

Impossible. The president said no one was interfering with people getting to the airport!
Maybe we should draft up another strongly worded letter.

My guess is your buddies understanding is a little off. They are more likely landing not at bingo fuel but max landing weight - that leaves a little more room for error fuel wise. The risk for tanker issues is extremely low.
This is actually pretty smart. It’s much more of a risk to have fuel supply risk at HKIA than tanker issues.

Way more likely. In general, people are heavy, especially compared to the equipment they usually carry. They could be packing pax on and taking off with a designated amount of fuel but not zero.
Also, if they have too much when they go to take off, they run engines and burn some off before taking off.

I’m surprised Harris hasn’t used this to completely distant herself from Biden? By that, I mean come out and publicly destroy him. I guess those that are pulling her strings just won’t allow it.
