I am sincere. There's a way to make that point, or any point, without it devolving into a bitchfest back and forth. I agree with you, to an extent, that it isn't the worst thing ever in the history of ever, but I won't stop saying how shitty this makes us look to the rest of the world, particularly during a time that our country just doesn't need that.
Must be a kill the messenger thing then, because OTers are far less combative when you say exactly what I said.

Thats why they're willing to die for the chance to get on a C-17 and head to any other country but Afghanistan

Jennifer Griffin: "How are you fueling your planes, the C-17s, are you now in a position where you have to buy fuel from the Taliban?"

Maj. Gen Hank Taylor"ummm....the assets....ahh....on HKAI.....on the airfield are ....uhhh....what we need to maintain the operations...all operations to support the mission."

Jennifer Griffin: "So that's a 'No' you are not buying fuel from the Taliban?"

Kirby quickly interrupts Hank to keep him from adding more info

Admiral John Kirby: "So there is....there is plenty of fuel...to sustain the capability at Hamid Karzai Airport and as you know Jen we also have the ability...of our...on our own....the logistics ability...to fuel our aircraft as needed."

Kirby confirms the US is buying fuel from the Taliban the second he said "we also have the ability...of our...on our own"

Do you really think that they have already "taken over Africa"?

They did that BEFORE the Belt and Road Initiative. If you could go back in time a decade ago and you had an actual African cab driver, they’d tell you all sorts of things about what China was doing in Africa and how they were helping their lives. I watched Chinese State Media and talked with Chinese people, and they were pretty honest why they were in Africa: an insurance policy to make sure The Great Leap Forward never happened again. The Belt and Road Initiative began in 2013 a year after I left China, and really they’re expanding they’re African project to Asia and Europe. They’ve pretty much done everything they need to do in Africa. So no, you run into me from 2013, I’d tell you China for all intents and purposes owns Africa. This happened a long time ago.

Now tell me why the US should stay there for one more second and why

You're stuck on equating a miserably/embarrassingly bungled drawdown/evac plan with wanting to stay in Afghanistan indefinitely. That's a disingenuous, non starter to any reasonable debate, and has been relegated to little more than a talking point that was literally distributed by Nancy Pelosi.

Again, take it elsewhere, please.

The median age of the Afghan population is 18.4 years. That means that the average citizen of Afghanistan was not even alive yet when the Taliban were in power. These people who live in Kabul? The majority of them had never seen a Taliban fighter until this week.

No way we are buying fuel from the taliban.

If you watch the flightaware website throughout the day there are at least 2 US refueling planes off the coast at all times.

Look for the planes that say "No Call Sign". Those are in air refuelers.

How is that the United State’s business?

Ummm, because they’re going to make it our business. China wants to rule the world. They’re cool with us running the Eastern Hemisphere so long as we’re a mere proxy state and oblige them at all times, but you do not want to live in a world where China dictates the rules. It will be bad for everyone. Brazil is a better and freer place with the US running things. The West needs the US to beat China, and we are running out of time.

No, it's all about prior reputation. I presented virtually the same words you did. But I've consistently challenged PT norms and am therefore persona non grata, even when we agree (which is actually more often than not).

On my ban bet one out of four has already happened. No, Xi Jinping will never be the official rulers of any other country currently existing with the exception of Taiwan. It’s happened, pure and simple. So no, I won’t take you up on your ban bet for your own sake.

While I don't fully believe we are currently, I do believe that they have made an effort to keep that option on the table. And it wouldn't necessarily be us buying it, as I've seen reports of other countries having direct diplomatic talks with Taliban leaders, but I have yet to see that we have. Germany is the most recent that have had "conversations".

No, I'm quoting the paraphrasing of Voltaire by one of his students. I already said that.

What can I say, baw? I'll put in a good word for you.

I may have a handful of posts on the PT board, and most of those ended up there after a thread move. I've barely even looked at it since the election.

Translation: I said something dumb and melodramatic, got called out for it, and now won't stand behind it.
