They have zero reason to attack Russian assets.

Hell, Russia likely started backing them the minute we started attacking them, an ironic twist on the 70s/80s.

So these drones are valued at over 3 million dollars a piece. This is like setting fire to money for warmth.

This.

Think a couple of moves down the chessboard here. The Taliban are encircling Kabul. IF they can shutdown the airport then our ability to get our people out becomes very difficult.

If I'm the Taliban I see an opportunity to humiliate the US.

We are very close to a viable scenario where the Taliban try to over run the US embassy and kill a bunch of isolated Americans. This could get really ugly really fast. The US will have to deploy major assets to prevent this. We could end up in another tough urban fight.

I'm praying for all of our soldiers on the wall there and on the way there.

Trump's Deal To End War In Afghanistan Leaves Biden With 'A Terrible Situation'

This was written in March and they were right. Luckily the same 56% of people who voted against Trump knows this is Trumps fault.

quote:

One of Donald Trump's campaign promises was to end the war in Afghanistan. Last year, he negotiated an agreement with the Taliban to withdraw all U.S. forces by May 1 of 2021. That's less than two months away. Not represented in that agreement were members of the Afghan government. They're now negotiating with the Taliban. Meanwhile, President Biden, having inherited the Trump deal, faces some tough choices, as my guest, Dexter Filkins, explains in his new piece in The New Yorker. If Biden succeeds in pulling out troops, he will end a forever war. But with U.S. troops gone, civil war could flare up, the Taliban could take over and the war Americans fought could be deemed a failure.

Just going to put this right here. The moment Joe said was impossible is, in fact, happening and ongoing:

@kylieatwood

quote:

The evacuation of US diplomats from the US embassy to the Kabul airport foe their flights back to the US is underway, per two sources. Helicopters are now continuing to shuttle personnel from the embassy to the airport. Flights back to the US have started.

It's more than a bit concerning that after 20 years to prepare one, the military doesn't seem to have had a plan in place in case of the capitulation of the Afghan army.

I saw where today Biden said he inherited a "bad deal" from Trump. Well, he inherited a lot of things from Trump that he's had no issue with changing direction on or rolling back. No reason at all that he couldn't have treated the negotiation with the Taliban the same. It's not Trump's fault. I suspect that the military built the plans for the withdrawal under Trump and told Biden they were solid plans. Biden took the easy road and said "Carry on". It's the only explanation that makes sense to me.

The Daily Mail says over 10,000 Americans are in Afganistan including over 5k at the Embassy.

Us pulling our troops out of Afghanistan was negotiated by Trump before Biden even took over. It was one of Trumps campaign promises and I am sure you were all for it.

And here, again, is his exact quote:

Joe Biden
quote:

"The Taliban is not the North Vietnamese army. They’re not remotely comparable in terms of capability. There’s going to be no circumstance where you see people being lifted off the roof of the embassy of the United States from Afghanistan. It is not at all comparable.”

And just so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle I will add the tweet from above to this post.

@kylieatwood
quote:

We should have been out of there years ago. Most Americans can agree on that.

Trump's "deal" was for us to be out May 1st.

This is mid August.

This shitshow has nothing to do with Trump.

Yes and still am.

But the seemingly lack of preparedness for the rate that the Taliban took over is Biden’s frick up here.

I don’t give a shite if Taliban takes over the whole country. It’s our people on the ground in harms way I care about.

I’ve linked him saying there was no shot in hell that the scenario playing out right now would happen. He’s a failure. Along with the top brass.

That, and making the decision to pull 99% of the military teeth we had thus leaving diplomats and pencil pushers holding the bag in Kabul.
