So, the Taliban is already on the outskirts of Kabul, close enough to have us bomb them and we only have 1,000 troops on the ground. Biden's stated 5,000 troops won't be in place until the end of the week, which I assume is next week.
Fox:
This situation looks worse by the minute. We also have this going on:

There were already 1,000 U.S. service members on the ground, according to defense officials. Another 3,000 Marines and soldiers will be in place by the end of the week.

State Department 'exploring options' for Americans looking to escape Afghanistan
The U.S. embassy in Kabul sent a bulletin to Americans in Afghanistan Saturday informing them of repatriation assistance for U.S. citizens looking to leave the country as commercial flights are booked solid.
The aid is available for U.S. citizens and their spouses and children, the parents of minors who are citizens and, pending availability, lawful permanent residents.

No one I talked to in Kabul believes the Americans can be so incompetent. They think it is all deliberation and dissimulation. Can you blame them? Incompetence at this level has indeed never been witnessed

Yikes, that tweet pulls no punches. What a clusterfrick.

FYI: Dem Talibaws are going to play for keeps if/when they breach that Embassy.

And I just saw this tweet:

I see I'm being downvoted for this. Anyone care to rebut that statement?
The Taliban would have taken over regardless, sure, but I don’t believe the pull out would have been so unorganized under Trump. We didn’t have to rush this, we could have gotten all of our people and equipment out so that we wouldn’t be scrambling now.

I also saw that troops who were going to stage in Kuwait have been redirected to Kabul.

The Kabul prison has also been emptied within the hour. That's just another layer to this clusterfrick.

He also blames President Trump for the current situation, saying he "inherited" a deal "that left the Taliban in the strongest position militarily since 2001 and imposed a May 1, 2021 deadline on US forces."
Well, considering he ignored that May 1 deadline, seems he didn't really GAF about that little deal.
Regardless, why in the hell would you leave behind a bunch of pencil pushers with zero security? In what world does that make sense?

Kabul right now, I want out of Afghanistan but this shite is embarrassing

I know nothing of what is happening, but is the Taliban the same now as it was with the Al Qaeda infiltration?
Is this like a kinder gentler Taliban? Figured the country is going back to an Islamic state no matter what happened.

Yep I knew that was coming
Take all abandoned equipment and ransack Kabul from all corners of the country since it’s practically in the middle of the country

I’m guessing all those busses and big trucks will be 80 plus miles an hour to try to avoid those ied’s

Imagine being one of those 1,000 troops. Where can we fly sorties from right now?
Posted on 8/14/21 at 6:32 pm to lsucoonass
For frick sakes. This is what happens when people who have gotten to where they are not ever actually doing a fricking thing.
They can't fricking do a job. They never had to before and are incompetent. I hope God is with those troops and people left cause its a good chance they are going to go through hell.
It's all good though cause racism and wokeism and shite.

Former CIA director General Petraeus calls situation in Afghanistan ‘catastrophic’
quote:
Former CIA director and retired Army General David Petraeus called the deteriorating security situation in Afghanistan "disastrous" and "catastrophic" for not only the U.S. but the world, in a Friday interview.
"This is an enormous national security set back and it is on the verge of getting much worse unless we decide to take really significant action," Petraeus told Rita Cosby on "The Rita Cosby Show" on WABC Radio.
The former commander of U.S. and International Forces in Afghanistan described the domino effect that occurred once the U.S. pulled the bulk of its remaining troops out of the nation.
quote:
U.S. withdrawal prompted the swift removal of all NATO forces and contractors – some of whom maintained the Afghan air force.
Petraeus said he was concerned "months ago" about a "psychological collapse" that would occur when Afghan forces realized they could not uphold the level of support they were accustomed to in fighting back the Taliban.
"We are now in a situation where the Taliban are trying to encircle Kabul – a city of 5 of 6 million before hundreds of thousands of refugees starting flooding into it," he added. "If we communicate effectively with the Taliban that they need to halt what they are doing or we will bring the might of the U.S. military down upon them, we can stop this."
