Giving people less rights
“Rights” are not granted by governments.
They are granted by God.
Our constitution restricts the government, not the individual.
There is no “right” to ice cream.
The constitution does not address it except it states that IF it is not addressed in the constitution, it is left to the states.
In general, the states decide most things- basically anything not in the constitution.
The Supreme Court does not decide “rights”, it interprets laws and whether that law violates the constitution.

Slaveholders had their rights taken away.
In fact quite often rights bestowed to one, are rights taken from another, and vise versa.
In the instance of abortion, rights taken from the mother are bestowed to her infant. Rights removed from Federal purview are ceded to the states.

Agree. It's part of the reason society has devolved over the last few decades. RvW started a trend of dehumanizing the most vulnerable of our society and taking away their right to live.
Killing the young is now celebrated and if you criticize it, you're being evil.
I don't even understand how the government had the ability to give out the right to freely take another's life. It's like how our country used to give out the right to keep other human beings as slaves.

The right to kill a human baby was never really a right.

Killing unborn babies, or whatever you want to call it, was never a right.

What right has been taken away? You can still abort in a friendly abort state. It has been tough since 1973 when my rights were taken away and an unconstitutional law was mandated. Yep, society started killing whatever it could with abandon.
My great grandparents rights were taken away in New York over 100 years ago when they were told they could not constitutionally carry. Yep, New York became a mess.
So, when does a right becomea right? Who or what makes a right a right? You, me, God, or GOOBERMENT?

Murdering someone whether inside or outside the womb has never been a right.

Nobody is trying to take away your right to be a phag.

There is no right to murder a child.

your kids are humans and citizens.

Your premise is wrong idiot. Abortion was never a right.

There has to be standards and values and principles in every culture or society. Without them things fall apart very quickly. It can’t be just a free for all where everyone does whatever the hell they want. That creates massive instability
It’s also important to continue to value human life. Almost every culture or society that devalued human life in the past ended up with mass atrocities. It’s not a road you want to go down.

A little over 150 years ago we had the right to own other human beings in chattel slavery. Are you saying we should still have that right?
Posted on 6/25/22 at 11:08 am to Tiger1242
Disagree. We took away the right of strong men to murder others and take their wealth and women. That certainly made society better. Civil society itself is the taking of rights to allow citizens to exit barbarity.

What rights were taken away?
Rights were not directly taken away, but the ruling allowed states to take away rights. The entire issue is a balancing of rights - the baby’s right to life and the mother’s right to reproductive freedom.

If it's abortion you're referring to, are we talking about the mother's, or the baby's rights?

Improvidently "granted" rights based upon an intentionally erroneous reading of the Constitution should not be maintained to avoid hurting fee fees.
