This used to make me angry.
Now I just find it sad.
My apathy bothers me.

Go get those mean statues, kids.
You'll show 'em.

Yeah i am reaching a state of resignation, myself. I've accepted the fact that it's over. The only question is just how bad are things going to get?

Surely you jest, you know how bad it is going to get, people are not apathetic, they know it too and are biding their time, no reason to waste energy you will need later

Are they taking down any "native" american statues too since most tribes had many black slaves, and the majority of them fought for the confederacy in the war?

I like that you are implicitly ceding the argument that these people are way off base.

For example John McDonogh (from wiki):
quote:

McDonogh was a slaveholder. In 1822 he devised a manumission scheme by which his slaves could buy their freedom. The process took about 15 years; thus he was able to profit from their labor before he set them free.[8] McDonogh was also active in, and contributed to, the American Colonization Society, which enabled freed black slaves to emigrate back to Africa.[5][8] McDonogh used the Society to provide passage to Liberia for many of his former slaves.[9]

Further
quote:

Although during his life McDonogh was an infamous miser,[10] he left the bulk of his fortune—close to $2 million[11]—to the cities of Baltimore and New Orleans for the purpose of building public schools for poor children—specifically, white and freed black children. This was unprecedented, and proved controversial. His heirs contested the will, and the case, McDonogh's Executors v. Murdoch, went to the U.S. Supreme Court.[12] This delayed execution of the will until 1858,[8] with New Orleans receiving a settlement of $704,440.[5]

Lastly, for future reference, how many followers are required before we may, in your words, "freak out."

I do think that too much is often made of a crazy blogger somewhere posting craziness.

I don't think that fits in this case. 4,000 is a lot, particularly in one city.

Facts and historical context doesn’t matter to these people. If it did, PGT Beauregard‘s statue would still be standing

They took down PGT's statue, but left a monument to historical ignorance.
