Trump will be removed. This was decided before it began.
It’s all part of the show. GOP were to act united ready to dismiss the impeachment to satisfy the base, and right before they do it “new info comes out that they cannot ignore” so they’ll vote for witnesses. But they’ll make sure its mostly witnesses that are bad for Trump. Then they’ll say “the evidence is overwhelming we cannot in good faith vote to acquit Trump” then the weak Rs vote to remove him along with some others not up for re-election.
It’s over. I fear we have lost

I don’t trust the GOP anymore than the Dems. I guarantee a lot of them are involved in the Ukraine mess, and they’ll vote to remove Trump to save their arse even if it means losing reelection

Priebus is up there as well.
And let's be honest here: no Washington outsider is going to waltz into the presidency and bring in a team of 100% outsiders. When a newbie is elected to Congress they bring some of their group but DC is so effed you've got to have a couple of holdover staffers that know the lay of the land to even find your office. You HAVE to hire a certain amount of insiders.
None of that is meant as an excuse for Trump; I think he was grossly naive to think the GOP would just fall in behind him. Most of them fell in behind him just so they could stab him in the back. I'm not sure what the "best under the circumstances" cabinet would have looked like, but he fell well short of it.

That's the only thing saving Trump right now. And while they all want to hold the gavel and hand out plum committee assignments, let's be real. If the choices were:
1. Trump stays in office, McConnell holds the senate but so much corruption is exposed the gravy train is severely impacted.
2. Trump is booted, McConnell loses the senate but the gravy train continues unimpeded.
What do you think he'd choose? I don't know what the odds are of #1 (the gravy train part), probably well under 50%, but if it was likely I wouldn't trust Mitch for a second.

We already have the “girl power” team of Collins and Murk where they wanna get you on their knees to beg for their vote when it was a 51-49 majority. Then Flake came along in their club and he is replaced by Romney. Now they only need one more weak arse republican like Martha McSally to bring into the club and then there you go. Majority Democrat again when you include these traitor McCain like Republicans! We need a much strong senate to come out of this years election period.
