Whe you have a history of shafting people you owe money to.
When you sell out your fixer/attorney.
When you can't keep your mouth shut....when keeping it shut is the smart thing to do.
When you cavort with sleazy people like Pecker and Stormy Daniels
Respectable competent people keep their distance. If I'm a top notch criminal lawyer, why should I defend a client who will not listen to me and may not pay me my entire fee and might bad mouth me if he runs into problems because he can't keep his mouth shut. Tell me why I should put my livelihood and in this case, financial well being on the line voluntarily?

The way the judge ran this trial and instructed the jury made this a forgone conclusion. No set of lawyers would have obtained a different result. They were hamstrung at every turn by the judge. Hopefully they made their record for appeal.
FWIW, I have always been critical of Trump for not using good lawyers in conducting his affairs and listening to them.

Hey, I was saying that when he selected his cabinet members. Then when you look at some of the this the "loyal" followers do...it's mind boggling. These folks and just jockeying for a handout. They aren't really out there fighting for him like they should.

Most won’t work with him because they have been threatened or their families threatened with lawfare, IRS, Bar, etc.
Honestly tho the way the trial was run it would not have mattered who his lawyers were. The verdict was assured before the trial even started.
