I just want to bump along with quoting the OP. I mean, not that I think the OP would edit his post in the future.

Trump evidently thought he would threaten China with tariffs, and Beijing would fold as quickly as one of the vendors he has made a practice of stiffing. Not so fast. China retaliated by stopping purchases of U.S. soybeans, hurting the farm states whose votes Trump needs. China also made plain it wasn’t going to pressure North Korea into concessions as long as Trump was threatening its trade.
quote:
Lo and behold, Trump caved. First he tweeted that he would lift sanctions on Chinese telecom giant ZTE before kind of, sort of, walking it back. And then this week he ran up the white flag altogether, with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin saying that the trade war is “on hold.” (Who knew that wars, like phone calls, could be put “on hold”?) Trump’s trade negotiators had been pushing for China to buy $200 billion more from the U.S. annually – a fantastical figure that U.S. factories and farms could not produce even if they wanted to. China refused, and the administration settled for a vague commitment to buy an unspecified amount of U.S. goods. Trump supporters such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R.-Fla.) correctly labeled this a “surrender,” because it did nothing to address China’s theft of U.S. intellectual property. Trump responded with an incomprehensible tweet: “Our Trade Deal with China is moving along nicely, but in the end we will probably have to use a different structure in that this will be too hard to get done and to verify results after completion.”
We aren’t celebrating that North Korean tensions haven’t improved. We’re doing a victory lap and telling you “I told you so”.

Still nothing, and China and North Korea are closer than they were.
If he gets a win, a tangible one, I’ll be pleased and give him credit.
But he won’t. Not without a lot of help.

Affirmation followed by a crawfish away from that affirmation.
#resistards are funny.

If he shows up, bloviates, doesn’t communicate on the issues, and China and South Korea patch up a deal, is that him doing something? Not really.
If he and his state department come up with something, propose it, accomplish it, and see it through, I’ll praise him.

Victory lap was right. The summit on June 12 won’t happen, and when or if it does, we won’t win anything.

Well there you have it folks.
FT crawfishin inside of 3 posts. You now know what he'll say if a deal is made. "Trump had nothing to do with it". And, he'll link us to CNN who will say the same thing. He'll call that "proof".

Keep backpedaling...it keeps getting funnier each time
A deal will be made for the world and YOUR President will have played a historic role

No you won't
You've already set the parameters for what constitutes a win for him. Anything less than that is nothing.
At least be honest and say you hate him and you will never see anything he does as an accomplishment.
Keep taking your victory lap

Basically, FT.........who will NOT be in the room for discussions.............has declared that short of FT being specifically aware of AND IN AGREEMENT WITH any approaches DT and his team take...........that it will not be a win for DT.
Heads I win, tails you lose.

He's just dishonest prog filth.
One can be prog filth and sane.
Insane would be an upgrade for FT. At least then, it wouldn't be a character flaw.

Do the other, nearby nations not have any involvement? Is trade not important? Do deals not matter?
If he shows up and gets tertiary wins, that’s less than enough. Giving NK an equal stage means getting concessions that matter, and the goal has been set: North Korean denuclearization. If that happens, or even if there’s a removal of some DMZ troops, that’s great. I know it won’t happen.

Dude. We get it. You already have your excuse planned out.
