Hearing this stopped me right in my tracks. This is not at all the milqetoast Joel Osteen version of Jesus I always hear about nowadays, that just says to everyone to "just be nice to your neighbor". We all need to let drag queens twerk for toddlers, because it makes them feel better about themselves.

quote:

16 “I am sending you out like sheep among wolves. Therefore be as shrewd as snakes and as innocent as doves. 17 Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues. 18 On my account you will be brought before governors and kings(W) as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. 19 But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, 20 for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

21 “Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 22 You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 23 When you are persecuted in one place, flee to another. Truly I tell you, you will not finish going through the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

quote:

32 “Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. 33 But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven.

34 “Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to turn

“‘a man against his father,
    a daughter against her mother,
a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law—
36     a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’

37 “Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. 38 Whoever does not take up their cross and follow me is not worthy of me. 39 Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it.

There's going to be a reckoning. I keep telling my parents, I just hope it's a surgical strike and not a carpet bombing.

I don’t know when the milquetoast Jesus got started, but He got angry with righteous indignation several times. As Christians, the time is coming when we may be required to beat our plowshares into swords. We may have to defend our beliefs, literally unto death.

1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;
they flatter with their lips
but harbor deception in their hearts.
3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips
and every boastful tongue—
4 those who say,
“By our tongues we will prevail;
our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”
5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
I will now arise,” says the Lord.
“I will protect them from those who malign them.”
6 And the words of the Lord are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold[c] refined seven times.
7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
and will protect us forever from the wicked,
8 who freely strut about
when what is vile is honored by the human race.

This is for parents that left their church for pro-gay "churches" when their kids come out of the closet.

Any got a good simple layman comeback for this recent leftie "Jesus says to accept and love all"? The "not exactly the way it works...more like love the sinner hate the sin" is my go to.

I keep thinking we're all going to feel it to some extent. Hopefully God will protect those who are trying to live right from a majority of what's coming.

There are times when I read the Bible, whether it’s the OT or NT, I marvel at some of the scriptures and how they mirror the exact same conditions we are seeing in modern times….the sinful nature of man and the wickedness of his heart hasn’t changed at all since the recording of history began.

It’s truly amazing.

like these quotes from CS Lewis

quote:

1. "Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and, if true, of infinite importance. The one thing it cannot be is moderately important."

2. "A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic– on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg – or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool, you can spit at Him and kill Him as a demon; or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronising nonsense about His being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to."

Remember when asking What Would Jesus Do? Flipping tables and whipping people isn't out of the question.

Jesus will be back to restore order and slay the evil that will kill the saints the followers of Jesus.

The bad people will never win because the spirit of God is strong.

Today’s first reading

A reading from
the Book of the Prophet Malachi3:19-20a
Lo, the day is coming, blazing like an oven,/ when all the proud and all evildoers will be stubble,/ and the day that is coming will set them on fire,/ leaving them neither root nor branch,/ says the Lord of hosts./ But for you who fear my name, there will arise/ the sun of justice with its healing rays.
The word of the Lord.

You're posting on a message board all comfy in your home filled with food in your pantry. But tell me more about how that time is near...

From Luke 22:36, Amplified Bible:

quote:

“But now, he who has a money belt is to take it along, and also his [provision] bag, and he who has no sword is to sell his coat and buy one.

Jesus said that?

Sounds like the most egotistical dude in the world.

The idea of loving some random dude who may or may not have lived and done some things a couple thousand years ago more than your own children is batshit crazy. That goes for whether you believe in him or not, point stands either way.

When I was a child, I thought that most people get to heaven. But as I grew older and actually read the Bible closely, it’s apparent that the path is very narrow and there are many temptations and distractions. Following Christ is hard.

Anyone seen Milo on Timcast?

He said Trump was ordained by God, and that's why no weapon against him prospers. He also says DeSantis has the personality of a wet sponge. LOL.

It's a 2 hour conversation, but Milo is on another level.

That's because you obviously don't know what Christ did for humanity.

Your blasphemy is sickening.
