Only an idiot would give complete control over their healthcare to the people that believe we need to decrease the population. Not to mention the same people who have proven track records of targeting and punishing conservatives via government bureaucracies.

Anytime the word “Hope” is inserted then it is no longer a plan. Realistic plans don’t involve hope.

So we change everything so profits are not made in the healthcare areas.

So no profits.

But it will be paid for my the rich. Rich people got rich by making profits.

Dude wants to shoot himself in the face.

You work with a dipshit.

He pointed out how every other developed country guarantees its citizens health care, and the only reason we don't is so corporations can rake in the profits.

Do those other developed countries also get all the adjectives to describe their healthcare as well?

A lot do.

Sultan said that while doctors and such would still be paid good salaries, that he hopes most people would go into the medical profession because they want to help people, and for the greater good, and not because of the big pay checks.

There is this thing called opportunity cost. Sultan should look it up.

Big health insurance corporations certainly don't, and they're quite a formidable lobby.

Sultan has been smoking at the wrong Hookah Bar.

Why are people like this who are so obsessed with free also so obsessed with taxes? Ask him how he'd feel about an abortion tax?

Edit to be more polite

Someone else asked Sultan what would happen to doctors if we had universal health care, and if they would still be paid well, and if it would be worth it for younger people to go into the medical field and take on all that debt and years of education. Sultan said that people who go into the medical profession for the money are doing it for the wrong reasons. Sultan said that while doctors and such would still be paid good salaries, that he hopes most people would go into the medical profession because they want to help people, and for the greater good, and not because of the big pay checks. And then he said no one would take on any med school debt because college would be free as well.

When someone asked Sultan how this would be paid for, he went with the usual "tax the wealthy" line and said it would pay for itself because profit would be taken out of the equation for health care so prices would no longer be gouged and inflated so corporations can make massive profits.

All true.

Congress actually sets the profit margin of blue Cross et al.
It's more than twice what Medicare can make.

It’s interesting to talk with folks who entered the medical field +60 years ago. My mother, who is now deceased went to nursing school during WWII and she had the same beliefs as Sultan. The salary for a nurse back in the 40’s was probably less than most blue collar jobs. I
remember in the early 80’s mom was making over $25K annually and she was amazed at how the medical field was changing so rapidly and how much money there was in being a nurse, doctor, radiologist, etc.

Mom told me when she decided to become a nurse it was a calling to help people and many of the people who entered the medical field +60 years ago felt the same way, something else that was quite common back in the early days of modern medicine was many hospitals were faith based institutions.

This is a bullshite post. That aside, every normal human being wants people to have access to good healthcare. We just don't want the federal government fricking it up like they always do. If Elon Musk can launch a fricking rocket and land it on a floating pad in the ocean, citizens can figure out affordable healthcare for everyone. The federal government is Cousin Eddie pumping shite down the sewer. This is where Republicans get it wrong.

Well that makes me feel better. At least, after he flies an airplane into my building, he wants me to get patched up for cheap.
We need more thoughtful folks like that.
