what I’ve found over the years is I’ve gotten lazy. I frequently fail to use proper English.
Same here...not caring on sites like this isn't helpful. I find myself questioning things I read on grammar issues all the time, and feel I'm taking crazy pills. Sadly we can't depend on articles being written correctly, so that hurts too. We really have lowered our selves to the lowest dominator in the name of "equity."

My dad actually sheds a "where did I go wrong with this one?" tear each time he sees my handwriting, as his is legit beautiful.

I used to grade bar exams. There are many law school graduates who can’t write a decent sentence.

the states where it is accepting to support lgbt actually have higher rates of education, as well as better public education systems. But yes those in the south, whose hallmark of an education is going to sunday school should tell everyone else how to learn.

Go to a public school, get a public school education. Anything the government touches turns to trash.

when standards get lowered to equalize outcomes,
It's not just that. It's about self esteem.
Back in the day if the teacher asked 'What is 2 + 11?' and Johnny said '6' the teacher would say: 'Wrong. Anyone here want to tell Johnny the right answer?'
Today the teacher says 'That's very close, Johnny. Class, let's give Johnny a cheer for almost getting it!'

To be fair, there's plenty of 30 and 40 year olds who post on social media who are unable to write.

Write ?
For the last 20 years all they have had to do is just bubble in the 'correct' answer on a scan tron sheet.
What did you expect to happen?
Now let's see if they can do some do loops in Fortran.

If those lgbt kids in Chicago could read they'd be very upset

Writing is racist.

K-12 public education has failed
Absolutely... Besides the fact that public schools are required to implement all types of Federal bull crap the profession does not attract the best and brightest...
All you have to do is go to a public gathering where educators and administrators speak and you will see that something is lacking...

The pitiful state of our education has and will continue to produce disastrous consequences.
I once hired a kid (18) who stated that he was a recent HS Grad. (Manual Labor)
His application was so horrible that I asked him to bring me a copy of his HS diploma…I simply could not believe that the system could fail a kid so badly, but it did.

About 68% of those starting at two-year public institutions and 40% of students enrolled in public four-year universities took at least one remedial writing class between 2003 to 2009, according to an original report from the Department of Education.
I find the numbers a little hard to believe.

Don't need to write to be brainwashed

Literature is woke. The only thing they should be learning to write is computer code.

If you can’t afford private education, don’t have a kid. Pretty simple.
Or, now hear me out, be a responsible fricking parent and realize education starts at home and take the initiative to educate your child. In fact, if you can't dedicate time in being the primary educator for your child, then you don't have children.

I worked with a new guy a couple of years ago, when I wrote out something in cursive (script) he could not read it.
I read where many public schools do not teach it anymore.....how do people sign their name?????

Im left handed and my script leans left. My elementary teacher told me its supposed to lean right and I told her that is because a right handed person invented it. She said you get an S-. I said its a small price to pay versus a lifetime of looking like some contortionist every time I want to sign a document.
You ever seen obama sign a document, the way he curls his hand around the entire document, its so his writing leans right, he conformed like so many others.

All part of the plan.
I bet these students know at least 75 genders and can list everything that oppresses them.
