I’ve come to the conclusion that these guys can’t get their stories straight without something going awry. So the strategy is to stonewall by contradicting themselves and each other in order to ball everything up and confuse the issue.

“I don’t recall” or “I don’t remember” is the go to for shady arse shite because no one can prove it either way.

It is the equivalent of your kid wanting to stay home from school because their stomach hurts.

There are no measurables to disprove their assertion.
