Not in the case of Mormonism. It's the most evangelical religion in history and the overwhelming majority of new believers annually are adult converts.

Thanks for reinforcing the stereotype.

Not much "Go ye therefore" in you, is there?

Can you explain why so many Chinese, with limited access to any Bible would be converting at such large rates?

Hopeless, poor rural laborers ready to cling to anything that gives them hope beyond their current state. 90% of Chinese converts are from the rural inland regions where life is frankly miserable.

It's no more remarkable than the incredibly high numbers of South Pacific and Polynesian converts to Mormonism, or the African converts to Islam.

So Jesus could be born of a virgin, walk on water, heal the sick/lame/blind, rise from the dead, but couldn't have straight hair or blue eyes?

The idea that Jesus likely was a white guy with straight hair and blue eyes knowing the region he was from is silly.

I think the better question is why does this depiction (white/straight hair/blue eyes) even exist in the first place? That would be a good starting point and it would also explain some of the other questions of legitimacy in this thread. Point being people want him to be a white, straight haired, blue eyed person facts be damned. Why is that?

Y'all have no proof that Jesus was Semitic. For all we know he could've been Roman and had blonde hair and blue eyes. We know Joseph was a Jew but we don't know about Mary. God was his dad and we know God is white

Hopeless to the point of giving up their life or spending the rest of their lives in prison, but yet still choose to believe. Sounds like some of the early Christians. Why not Buddhism? As this would be the closest major religion in proximity.

Ted Kaczynski, Carroll Cole, Rodney Alcala, etc. were also geniuses. That word has no meaning here.

Some do, some don't, it really doesn't matter what he looked like, the only point of significance was He was God

You (or someone) asked for a list of geniuses. There you go.

quote:

quote:Albert Einstein

Einstein quotes:

"Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the harmony of what exists."

"I want to know how God created this world, I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts, the rest are details."

"God does not play dice"

"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."

Here is where we started.

quote:

Some of the greatest minds in history were professing Christians.

Now you're spun up...

quote:

"Spinoza's God who reveals himself in the harmony of what exists."

"I want to know how God created this world, I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know His thoughts, the rest are details."

"God does not play dice"

"Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind."

Buddhism has nowhere near the intoxicating promises of Christianity. And yes, when you're life is hopeless you will die for hope.

Seems for whatever reason the majority of people in this thread do. Kinda odd if you ask me.

quote:

it really doesn't matter what he looked like

Agree 100%

quote:

the only point of significance was He was God

According to people who occupied a small isolated area in that time period. There were people who were on the opposite ends of the world at that same time who believed otherwise and had their own separate 'God' and belief system and didn't know who Jesus was.

All I am saying is if people will try and twist Jesus Christ into being a white guy with long straight brown hair and blue eyes what else will they fabricate?

I am not saying Jesus was white, brown, or even olive complexioned I am just saying that what we know about that specific region of the world at that particular time the chances of a white, straight haired, blue eyed Jesus isn't very likely.

Until he returns nobody will know but we sure have been waiting an awfully long time. It is almost if someone created that prophesy knowing that there was no right or wrong answer of it ever happening to leave people in suspense for eternity.....

Typical for the liberals:

Asks for facts, given facts.
Given facts, dismisses them as cherry picking.

Wrong.

That isn't what I asked for, sport.

Spinoza's God being referenced is enough to dismiss it.

I did say belief in "God", not orthodoxy. Right?

He may have been playing for the camera, but he said it.
