Step outside your bias for a second: is there a neutral article on the tax plan?

Can anyone recommend an article on the tax plan that would be considered neutral? Just an honest account of what the tax plan is and does and how it might affect me?

Reddit says it will kill millions. Poli Board is redoing kitchens and buying truck nuts.

Surely there’s a middle ground with an unbiased assessment somewhere.

No because there are no unbiased journalists, you could possibly find a center-left take on Fox News or National review, but that’s as close as you will get.

I usually prefer Forbes for financial news, as they're the closest to neutral (they don't go for rhetoric like "will lead to economic growth" or "will cause poor people to starve").

Here's their latest on it:

Here's an objective view of it

1) it lowers taxes across all income groups

2) it raises the deficit by 1 trill

Over 10 years

Assuming no growth from the tax cuts

And assuming no cuts in spending (either cuts or reductions in increase).

Here's some info on the brackets:

Because of where the brackets fall, if the House version makes it you're better off making 77k than 80k if you're married. There's a huge jump at that point.

I highly doubt it. You want a neutral article on the tax plan? You're going to have to write it yourself 2 years from now

The reality is that every article regarding the tax plan even those trying to be perfectly neutral will have to base its conclusions upon assumptions about the effects of the new policy

And those assumptions will be derived from their economic belief system.

I'm not sure it's possible to overcome that

Am I taxed less?
Can you choose to give more? (That's for my more lefty bros)

Well frick them all then...

There's a non-biased neutral take for you.

So a married couple making $140k pays $12k more in taxes? That can't be right.

ETA: Nevermind, I see you have do math and add 25% of the amount beyond.

A simple 18% for every dime earned over 35k...rounded down to the nearest 100
Throw in a 2k tax credit for each dependent if you feel froggy...

Every adult files independently...

There are 2 different plans that passed. It will go to conference and a final plan will be hammered out. Until that happens, speculation is all we have to go on

More than anything, it drops the corporate tax rate from 35% to 20%. So, all those companies that went abroad for tax shelter will come back, thereby boosting the economy way more than the income tax reductions will increase the deficit.

Is this tax bill doing away with marginal tax rates?

I keep seeing other pieces to the bill, like a repeal of the ACA mandate. If true, doesn’t this effectively kill Obamacare, and if so, what is the expected result to healthcare? Seems like Trump was able to use this tax bill as a Trojan horse to finally “repeal” the ACA.
