According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, some 29.4 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been distributed across the states and territories. Only about one-third (10.3 million) of those doses have been administered. And most of those doses were given to health care workers and the staff and residents of long-term-care facilities, Fortune noted.

With only about 3% of U.S. population having received the vaccine so far, how are the individual states doing?

Below are the 10 states doing the best and the 10 states doing the worst — so far — on per capita vaccinations, based on CDC data accessed Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Alabama is an absolute shite show in this game... Not really surprised given the outstanding leadership of MeeMaw and Dr. Hunter... ADPH has been an absolute joke in AL for a long time and the guvnah thought they would be the best to handle this...

The primary excuse? "not enough nurses to administer the vaccine"...

I read this AM that Samford is giving 12 credit hours for upper level nursing students to help administer the vaccine. Hopefully other schools will do the same (if not already) to help with this.

Several of my older family members have had it. An aunt and uncle drove from Montgomery to Selma to get it. Another of my uncles pretty much knows everyone and got several of them into a doc in the box in Montgomery to get it. My dad is going through the process at a local hospital which does not even begin making appointments until Monday the 18th. It seems like a free for all for the most part, at least in this area.

Seems like this might have been something that could have been accounted for in a plan if someone had the ability to actually plan...

There are other avenues that have been intentionally ignored because ADPH wants all the "glory"... They really are a pathetic group...

My parents here in GA are 75 and 76, respectively, and have both received the vaccine.

Plus he is 92 seems pointless at that point to even worry about it

This. Every dose in the state has been spoken for. I got my first dose yesterday. The state isn't even expecting to receive more doses until I'm due for my second. This will undoubtedly cause many people to miss the second dose, either due to unavailability or incredible inconvenience.

For a state that tries to pride itself on the healthcare system coming out of Birmingham, they’ve really blown it here.

There is one phone number to set up an appointment. ONE! And it is always busy. Who has a busy signal anymore!!!? Hey alabama.... 1970
Called and they want their busy signal back....

Lol

Total joke
