Just imagine for a second if a white officer in GA opened up fire on a black girl recently when protesters stormed the GA capitol. Just imagine for one second if that happened.

This cat gets it! How many times have we heard about a white cop killing a black person who is not compliant with officers when they arrive on the scene and possibly be brandishing a weapon? Then the rhetoric goes on to condemn the cops for the killing saying "they didn't have to kill him for not obeying". Well, this black capital cop surely did not have to kill this woman for simply being in the building.
Where is the outrage? From the public, from the media, from the politicians? It's as though this young woman's life simply didn't matter. Very shameful!

We are such cowards for not holding her up as a hero.

She was a veteran who served this country. A sister in arms that should be honored like any other veteran. All we do is lay down on her. Is that what we are????

Where are all those braggadocios veterans on this board? Absolutely Shameful. Makes my blood boil.

I couldn’t imagine the effort it would take to try and convince myself that what she was doing was terrorism.

Is it your view that every part of every government building is open to the general public?

Think through that for like 5 seconds.

what the lady did was wrong on many accounts.

You don't beat down glass doors, and as you have a gun pointed at you, you just keep going about your business as if there is a flaming fire behind you.

horrible tragedy, but I stick with actions result in consequences

I'll help because a lot of folks have a misunderstanding of public access to public property, government-owned buildings, etc.

quote:

The U.S. Constitution protects your right to speak and, in some instances, grants you a right to access public places to gather information. Your right to access public property is not absolute, however.

...

Property That Is Open to the Public for a Limited Purpose
Your right to access government-owned property that is only partially open to the public is a bit more limited. If the general public is permitted to access only certain areas or for certain limited purposes, you right to access the property for newsgathering purposes is similarly limited. For example, some parts of a courthouse are open to the general public, but portions of the courtrooms themselves are accessible only by the parties in the litigation and judges' chambers are completely off limits to the public.

Property That Is Not Open To the Public
You cannot access or gather information on government-owned property that is not open to the general public. This type of property is known as a nonpublic forum in which the government can charge you with trespass if you enter without authorization.

It's pretty simple in the sense that throughout our lives we've all adhered to these rules. Many people are being obtuse right now because it suits their agenda, but none would ever attempt to simply walk into the back offices of the DMV without being arrested. Or even more obviously: walk into the White House unsupervised.

The armed folks behind her did not stop her. Why not?

The one person that did shoot came from the side while hiding in a room.

When did the US Capitol building stop being open to the public?

In a public building funded by taxpayers. With that rationale everyone there should've been shot.

Do you believe that the general public is permitted access to all areas of all government-owned buildings at all times? Do you believe the Capitol building is a special case?

I don't think the CASTLE doctrine applies to public buildings.

Cops let you in the building and then they walk away from blocking those doors that people are now claiming was the kill zone.

NO verbal warning of that danger from anyone.

Hell the cops standing right there could have grabbed her and pulled her back in if they knew that it was shoot to kill beyond those doors.

Do you think there are badge access points at CIA headquarters in Langley? What about security clearances?

When it comes to public access of government-owned buildings, is what you've known your entire life in conflict with the statements you're making right now?
