Lake Charles, LA (KPLC) - Ronnie Johns says he has resigned his seat in the Louisiana Senate, where he has represented District 27 since 2012, in order to accept an appointment from Governor John Bel Edwards as the Chairman of the Louisiana State Gaming Control Board.

“It has been my honor to serve the citizens of District 27 as their senator for almost 10 years,” Johns said. “I am grateful for the trust they placed in me and I want them to know this new position will allow me to continue serving them, just in a different way. The gaming industry plays a vital economic role in Southwest Louisiana and across the state. Gaming is the largest single private industry source of revenue for the state budget. This new position will give me the opportunity to work with the State Gaming Control Board, elected officials and industry representatives to ensure the integrity of gaming in Louisiana. I am humbled and appreciative for being entrusted with this responsibility.”

I can’t find a print article, but there’s radio clips being played this morning where Sen. Johns says he was appointed because Gov Edwards recognizes his integrity.

I guess he showed his integrity by living up to his part of the deal he allegedly made with JBE

Once he is bought, he stays bought.

Just what we need… someone who is obviously buyable in charge of gaming in Louisiana. Nothing to worry about there.

Another JBE game commissioner who probably will game the gaming system.

Need to picket JBE and Capital in BR to make sure there will be no CRT taught in schools and no new voting machines esp. Dominium .

This is outrageous. He was clearly bought off and he screwed his constituents by refusing to show up for the veto session. He is a disgrace.

So pro 2A Ronnie killed Sanctuary State bill in committee, then bravely went on to support the second amendment by skipping out on the pro 2A constitutional carry bill. Our definition of "trust" is wildly different. Thanks Ronnie.

Who replaces Ronnie in the "Republican" "majority" senate?

Integrity?

You mean like cynically making up a bullshite excuse from the doctor to stay home and avoid representing your constituents desires in order to collect a pay off from a corrupt liberal democrat who your constituents are ideologically opposed to?

That's a funny way of describing integrity.

Selling out your constituents like this is pure assholery and scumbaggery and the people of Lake Charles are better off without him representing them and will get a much better replacement that actually cares about them.

Isn't this the useless a-hole that didn't show up for the veto override session?

There's nothing "allegedly" about it my guy.

It's 100% fact.

Ronnie Johns was bought and paid for by JBE.

Truth be known, he was only appointed because he was the only jackass they could find that could pass the background investigation. That is fact.

So by "integrity" do you mean faking being too injured to travel to the capitol to do your elected duty in return for a plum appointment to the LGCB?

We had to legalize gambling in order to create a great system of public education. Remember that?

If I remember correctly (I could be wrong), Louisiana legalized GAMING. Gambling is still illegal.
