Uh... The empty seats and poor TV ratings indicate things aren't "all good".

I have NFL ticket for free. Seats was empty for many games. Empty seats in many stadiums with teams possible playoff berth.

He should stop now. This thing is going to wind up hurting a lot more people than just the spoiled, childish, America-hating millionaire players. There are tens of thousands of hospitality employees, cab drivers, consessionairs, and merchandisers that will suffer, as well.

I get the bully pulpit, and I have no problem with Trump’s initial remark, but he should drop it now, and let the public take it to a result they see fit.

I hate that Trump is doing this, but if I were him: frick no I wouldn’t stop. It’s an objective winning strategy for Trump. The voters at large fricking love that he’s standing up to something like the NFL.

When you live in a bubble where everyone you know, and everyone they know has the same political opinion, it doesn't occur to you that your opinion might be unpopular.

I hope so

If the NFL folds then college football we cease to be filled with athletes who have no business being in college, and it can eventually go back to a way for poor Students to get to college

Making a lot less money than they would have if they did not capitulate to the whiners

Of course leftists were also willing to swallow that Obama “new normal” horse shite too.

Why do leftists like yourself accept the suboptimal?

Yes, the kneelers are at the forefront of this deal, but the way the NFL plays and markets and everything is just stale and boring. I think that has quite a bit to do with it as well.

Those particular ones lose. But other people win. Money that might have been spent going to a game will be spent in other ways. You don't think someone benefits if the money that was spent on tickets and whatnot is instead used to buy a new sofa?

Not considering TV money, all the money made by an actual game is redistribution from the fans to the team owner, or school. Sure some other guys get a cut of that (like players and concession stand workers), but in the end it just sucks money out of the local economy, and gives it to this guy, instead of being saved or spent elsewhere.

One thing that would interest me in the NFL is if it were possible to have some variety in the offenses.

Love to see an old school Bob Griese or Brian Sipe be able to make a ball control offense work. But I don't think you can run the ball consistently in the NFL anymore. You have to have Barry Sanders or Adrian Peterson to make one work.

If an NFL team has a big rushing day now, it is because they set things up with the pass, or the defense is really tired and starts to get gashed.

So some of you guys think the NFL’s problem is all about the kneeling?

If so, you haven’t been paying attention.

Doesn't help the NFL that for the past 10 years, the NFL fanbase that actually goes to games has become trashier and trashier.

Families don't want to get hit over the head with a bottle in the parking lot.

Or get their kid punched by some drunk chick in the stands.

kneeling just exposed the underbelly

Ratings were at an all time high in 2015, so the downward trajectory started VERY recently. You saw a slip in 2016, but tix and merch didn't get hit until this year

It isn't all about it but you refuse to acknowledge the stupidity of attacking a shrinking base.

It sure has a LOT to do with it. 2 years ago the NFL had the highest rated season including the highest rated Thursday night games. Sorry but cord cutting has been going on for much longer than 2 years and most games are over the air free.

Something happened in the last 2 years that caused a tectonic shift and you refuse to even look in the direction of the elephant in the room.
