Starting to think Trump has broken the NFL, and they might not ever recover

Ravens, NFL scramble as fans stay home
LINK
quote:
It seems paradoxical: The Ravens, who have sold out every home game since they arrived in Baltimore in 1996, are advertising tickets for Sunday’s contest at M&T Bank Stadium.
quote:
If the season ended now, they would capture the sixth and final American Football Conference spot, good for a first-round matchup with the Tennessee Titans. Yet seats were available this week in almost every section; an $80 ticket for an upper end zone seat could be had for as little as $29.
quote:
"The Ravens are finding themselves in the same situation as a lot of NFL teams this year,” said T.J. Brightman, president of A. Bright Idea, a public relations and marketing firm with offices in Bel Air and California. “There is a disengagement by fans across the country stemming from the daily and weekly stories the NFL league office confronts.”
“The league has an issue in front of them that demands they keep owners, players, fans and ultimately their business partners — sponsors — happy,” he said. “They aren't doing any of this well.”
And yet what do the Ravens blame their troubles on?
quote:
“Watching from the comfort of home is what we battle,” said Baker Koppelman, Ravens vice president for ticket sales and operations.
uh, not even close
quote:
ESPN’s national broadcast of Monday night’s Ravens game drew a 6.0 overnight rating, according to Nielsen, meaning an estimated 6 percent of households in metered markets tuned in. That’s tied for second worst all time
Most of the owners and especially Goodell have no clue what they've done to the league image. So they are placing blame, and trying to fix areas that don't really need fixing
They simply may never recover. Certainly not while Goodell is in charge. Because they simply refuse to identify the main problem

The NFL broke itself by enabling morons and not nipping it in the bud.
Trump just poured some fuel on the fire

So people didn't have big screen tvs to stay home and watch all the previous years when they sold out? What a joke.

Its unbelievable
Either they really think the public is stupid, or they still are not admitting their mistakes
Either way, they aren't working on fixing the issue

It's like liberals who continue to insist that the problems facing black families is the lack of money the government spends on them and has nothing to do with their own behaviors and culture.

As long as the biggest and fastest athletes in the world are in the NFL people will continue watching.
Trumpkins can keep watching NASCAR. It's all good

Get back to us when those TV contracts come up for renewal

Agreed. If it weren’t for the shite Kaepernick and his ilk were doing, Trump would have nothing to say. It’s a winning issue for him, but Kaepernick has to be the least valuable player ever.

I’m at a sports bar doing fantasy football (best in town IMO) and the bar is half as filled as it was this time last year. Yesterday with Auburn vs Georgia, packed house. It is the NFL that is the problem here.

But USA Today had a poll that 70% of the public thinks the NFL is right and Trump is being a meany and should stop and leave them alone. They wouldn't fake a poll. They're the press.

And GQ names him What? Unfreakingbelieveable

I like how the NFL, players and owners, followed the lead of an unemployed guy (Kaepernick). Talk about stupid business decision. I honestly am starting to think the owners are doing this on purpose in order to renegotiate player salaries and cut of profits. There is no other logical explanation.

That’s the same company who pays Keith Olbermann to regularly go on a mental breakdown.

Here's someone who doesn't understand supply and demand. You supply the right type of player on the field that's concerned about what he is being paid to do and the demand will be there to go watch him, if it isn't already too late. There is no demand otherwise.
By being paid I'm saying play like a professional (there's a lot of sorry arse teams presently) and leave any other stuff not sports related in the locker room.

The biggest error by the NFL was thinking nothing could replace them.
People watch football. It is habitual. But...once out of the habit. You realize it isn't quite as important as you thought.
I've watched most college games and NFL games for most of my life. I dropped ESPN this year and the NFL. Shocked at how little I miss it.
I think the NFL really shot itself in the foot. I'm not the only person who doesn't miss it. Several guys at work haven't used their tickets this season. That doesn't hurt the NFL too much since they already have the cash but it will be interesting to see if those guys abandon their tickets next season.
NFL is here to stay but that doesn't mean they won't take a hit when the TV renewals come up. I'm interested to see the prices they will be able to get for the Super Bowl.
The one thing that does shock me is the agents. I would think they would be screaming bloody murder from day 1. They only care about dollar signs and they had to know this could cost some folks money.

I hope the NFL dies. But I am merciful so I hope it is quick!

The kneeling debacle won't end the NFL but concussion gate might.
Long term more parents are steering their kids away from football. Sure there will always be enough to field any team but the number of people watching will continue to decline.

Goodwill screws it up then presents solutions to fix it
Defines insanity and what democrat party has done for decades
Democrats get their voters in a crack then say, "let me fix this for ya" again and again and again
