It's neither

The NFL is basically the Democratic Party. The NFL cannot exist without making blacks happy. But it also cannot exist without a lot of white fans

So just like the Democratic Party the NFL has to figure out how to attract white people while pretending none of the problems with the blacks they rely on exist.

Even better. They have to pretend that all of those problems are caused by white people.

It's basically an impossible task at this point

Another example of absolutely horrendous PR handling by the NFL.

Instead of paying those medical bills quietly, setting up a medical fund for retired players, and then making a very big deal about proper tackling and fundamentals started at youth and setting up football camps coached by famous players and coaches in the offfseason to learn proper fundamentals (you know, putting a positive spin on it), the NFL decided to publicly deny the entire thing, then ignore the injured aging retired people, and then once HOllywood put that movie out they did a complete 180 with massive sanctions and penalty changes and rule changes the put the fear of god in every soccor mom whos kid wants to play football.

I 100% agree with this sentiment

The thing I've said on this the whole time has been the same

It's irrelevant what we think about the reasons people aren't watching.

If for some reason we woke up tomorrow and 40% of the nation hated the color orange to the point they wouldn't shop at a place whose primary colors were Orange you can pretty much predict that Home Depot would change its fricking colors

And that's not even a very good analogy. A better analogy would be discovering that 40% of Americans hated the color orange and some company converting its colors to Orange

When you run a business you don't do shite that pisses off 40% of your customers. You don't wear make America great hats again either. Because that would be retarded too

Wrong.

Improper fundamentals and a lack of advancement in safety gear technology is whats harming these guys.

when you tackle someone, if you wrap them up an take them down its not such a huge problem. When you stop short and shoulder check a guy in the head running full speed that's a problem for both of you.

then making a very big deal about proper tackling and fundamentals

I know this is off subject but this one still baffles me

What in the fuc has happened to tackling technique at every level?

Think about how many times we've seen an LSU player this year jump over a defensive player approaching him with his head down

How many times we saw a running back bounce off a guy who simply threw himself into him without even attempting to use his arms?

I mean not only is it dangerous but it's ineffective. For every boom hit you have you get it completely whiffed tackle

I actually think the safety year is contributing to the problem

I love watching Australian Rules Football and rugby. I would love to see an NFL type study on the brains of those guys. I have a sneaking suspicion we will discover they have far fewer problems

The better gear in the NFL even between now and 40 years ago has completely changed the way these idiots hit each other

Of course, you are a leftist so you do support BLM, hence no problem.

I don't think opposing supporters of the assault and killing of cops is "silly" but that is just me.

Terrorists. We can call them terrorist sympathizers after the events in Baton Rouge and Dallas last year.

Made a fishing run to Delacroix yesterday, with my Son and old Friend; Saints talk was enthusiastic but aside from that...both adamantly expressed that they judiciously abandon any viewing of the NFL. Not casual, but a principled and punitive statement.

The NFL's outreach to SJW/BLM/Antifa *causes* (essentially anti-American, Founding Version) only exacerbates the NFL's viewership problem. They are going to have to jump through hoops and plaster American Flags on their advertising and uniforms in order to reassert that they are a patriotic Organization and not sympathetic to the Leftist Revolutionary cause. Outside of that action...the OP is spot on.

Meh. They know - especially the owners who are mostly billionaires. They have certainly done their own informal surveys, polls, research. They know the main factor in the recent, dramatic drop in support is because of the kneelers.

But, they can't say that. And if they do say it, they have to do something about it, which is something I don't think they're willing to do, yet.

So, they're kind of stuck.

Hyperbole much? Good lord. You want to watch football or not. What could the NFL do to make you happy? I assume nothing. Fine do some thing else with your Sunday. Fish, play golf, hang out with the wife, whatever.

Just know that the NFL will keep on. Will it lose luster? Hell yeah. Will the next TV deal negotiations be interesting? I’ll be damned curious. But it will go on. It is without comparison the PERFECT sport for betting. Don’t ever underestimate that.

It may never get as big as it was in the last decade. That’s ok by me. It could be argued that it got too big. All bubbles pop. But the giddiness and clamoring for Trump to destroy the nfl is silly.

Black men being supportive of black causes??? Forgive me if I don’t wring my hands.

Frankly you kind of have to hand it to NFL owners. They managed to go a very long time while keeping the fans Generally in the dark about the fact that the players generally hate them.

It was a neat trick. Unfortunately social media completely fricked that up

I can't deny the truth behind this statement. And I don't even think it's "all" the players. Just a significant plurality.

A valuable lesson capitalism can teach is, "Don't piss off your customers. It's much harder to bring them back after you've lost them, than it is to keep them happy in the first place." You can hate them all you want - don't let them know you hate them.

Oh absolutely.

For a very long time the trick the NFL was able to pull was to choose the select few to be the face of the NFL. The rest were largely Anonymous behind helmets and pads

But let's face it. This shite ain't new. Jim Brown fricking hates white people.
