Stacey Abrams: “My dad had to hitchhike home from work. One night, he didn’t come home, so my mom and us hopped in the car to look for him. We found him walking home in the rain, without a coat” ...Why the hell was he hitchhiking home in the rain, if you guys were sitting at home with a damn car???

That's a way of thinking that is often not present with dumbasses

Remember when GWB was president and Sarah Jessica Parker whined about how her Granny couldn't afford her meds? I guess SJP was too cheap to pick up the tab.

Where did they live? I saw somebody post that he worked at a shipyard.
I've worked at a few of those myself, in different areas.
If he was hitching rides home, it was intentional, and his rides probably liked to go by the bars, shothouses, craps and card games.
There was always plenty of that stuff around the yards where I worked.

apparently he worked somewhere that was too far away for his wife to come pick him up from work!

According to Wikipedia she grew up in Gulfport Ms..
I don't know much about Gulfport, but I expect it's a lot like the yards in other places.
Taking the long way home I guess.

Literally zero chance that happened. I would beat the shite out of them if they made me walk home in the rain

Shipyards are/were in Pascagoula or Pass Christian.
Just another lie to further the conversation.

That what I was thinking only thing on the water in Gulfport are casinos. LOL

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, worked some at Pascagoula, couldn't remember anything at Gulfport.
Maybe some small yards?

What I would like to know is, how did he get to work if to begin with if he worked "30" miles from home. Also they must not have phones where she grew up.
If they had a car, why wasn't he driving it?

Then her father would have worked at Ingalls in Pascagouala.
1. Those jobs pay very well.
2. There is a large stream of traffic between Gulfport and Ingalls. Plenty of people carpool.
In fact, you can locate parking lots in all different directions from Ingalls where people opt to meet and drive in.
3. That bitch is lying.

I believe Avondale had a yard in Gulfport, Ingalls aquired it in 2004 +/-. Strong union presence. Good money and benefits for shift work.
Walking (30) miles to work is a ten-hour trek. Walking (3) miles to work is a one-hour trek, but only a (5) minute drive.
If it raining, and you are walking in the rain, how would soaking wet coat keep a homeless man warm?
"Here you go sir, you look cold, have my wet coat"
Abrams was born in 1973. It would seem to me to be an insult her elders to say that her life was as difficult growing up in the late '80s and early '90s than in the late '60s

Beetch sat on her arse and let her Dad walk home in the rain when a car was sitting in the driveway. Shame on her. She couldn't put down the snicker bar and go pick Dad up.

Dad works at a shipyard and mom is a librarian in the 1980s, and these solidly middle class family can't afford a car for dad?
Either someone in the family had a gambling problem or a drug problem.

She’s FOS. I know plenty of people who carpool from Mobile over to Ingalls to work. There is a whole system of carpools setup for the large groups of people who work distance from the shipyard. Her whole story is a fabrication.
