Sr. Bowl changes team names to avoid "insensitive" Civil War imagery! Ridiculous!

I've attended the Senior Bowl in Mobile many times and have tailgated, shared a cold beer or two and even sat among blacks and northerners for years and had a blast each time. We shared stories and laughs that I will remember for years. It was all about relaxing and enjoying a Saturday afternoon college all-star game.
Never once have I ever heard anyone talk about racial injustice or mention of the Civil War during any of my many Saturday afternoons outside Ladd Stadium! We had fun and enjoyed each other's company and I would gladly share another Saturday afternoon with those same people today.
Why does everything have to be about race? Why does Senior Bowl Director Jim Nagy feel the need to create a controversy where there wasn't one?
So now instead of having the North and the South squad, we have the American and the National squad. I guess the Senior Bowl wasn't getting enough press so Nagy took it upon himself to create a controversy to gain some attention.
Well Mr. Nagy, you gained my attention and the attention of many others who will now boycott the game instead of give into another liberal creating another controversy out of nothing! Just another false narrative to mislead the rest of country into believing there was a problem, when there wasn't!

So this is an attempt to separate Nationalists from Americans, great call this will be much better. This is a way of saying patriots and nationalists are not Americans.

Respectfully, how are you guys STILL paying enough attention to sports to know any of this to finally get upset by it and stop watching? Were all the things that took place from summer on not enough...but THIS was the last straw?
I'm honestly curious, as I gave it all up in the summer after a lifetime of being an athlete and sports fan. Gave up LSU season tickets after having them since 2001, and have not watched one second of sports since I walked away form it all.
When I read this story out of curiosity, my first thought was, "Glad I don't give enough of a shite about this any more to get pissed about it."

Anyone remember the "Blue/Gray" game? I believe it was totally abolished in the 00's. No way that game would be allowed to go on today.
EDIT: Also, Oregon and Oregon St. have both agreed to stop calling their game "The Civil War" because of the same reason.

Years ago, they did away with the Blue/Gray game played in Montgomery. Said it was due to losing their sponsor, which was crap. They could have gotten another sponsor. Wasn’t politically correct though, just like this case.

Pretty sure everyone here knows how I lean politically and my response to this is who gives a frick, You want me to be outraged over this when for the last two decades I've been watching players from Ohio be put on the South squad, players from Missouri be put on North squad and in the East/West Shrine game players from Tennessee be on the West squad and players from Colorado on the east squad. The organizers of these events have not been paying attention to geography for the last twenty years when they make up the teams.
