Must still sting to know how badly he lost the popular vote huh.

I more then understand how the electoral college works...as does the Donald since it wasn't that long ago he was bitching about it in one of his many famous tweets.

Face it, you're guy isn't nearly as popular as you have built him up to be...in your minds.

I responded to your constant bitching about "trumpkins" always "deflecting"...or never a response with any substance, etc. this morning. I guess you agree with my assessment of your flunky choices for POTUS. Sorry Errerrerrwere...carry on.

Why is that in any way germane to what happens in the country in the next few years?

Nope. Not at all. He won 3000 counties while Hillary won 500.
It was 2626 to 487 to be exact, according to the AP.

But it's kind of irrelevant when 25 counties (0.8%) account for about 21.2% of the total population.

I mean winning Loving County, Texas with a population of 82 (0.00003% of US population) is quite different than winning Los Angeles County, California with a population of 10.2 million (3.2% of the population). For every 1 person on Loving County, LA County has 124,390 people. Hardly a valid comparison.

Still nowhere close to starting out investigating a possibly illegal investment scheme and ending up with a jizz-stained intern's dress. Republicans complaining about the expanding scope of the investigation are so full of shite.

Why are comparing surface area to population? Do you not know how units of measure works?

Of course I do. And I can see that approximately 80% of that surface area was carried by Trump. And speaking of units of measure; what are we talking here? Total number of people who voted for Trump? Total number of people voting for Hillary? What unit are we usin to determine the president?

It seems that you may be using a pound force when you should have been using Newtons.

You see the electoral votes ARE THE NEWTONS!

Yeah that is a bit misleading.

This is the election map adjusted for county size.

And the same map adjusting for weight of support within those counties:

Not really. All County level maps are flawed, since like I pointed out, the populations and their densities are too different to be meaningful, but they are especially flawed when it's a binary color that doesn't account for margin.

This one still suffers from the same population comparison flawed, but it at least accounts for the margin flaw:

Regardless your map doesn't provide an accurate picture of the popular vote or the EC. I mean excluding Staten Island, the 4 other boroughs are the most densely populated counties in the US. They represent 2.5% of the population but represent 0.00096% of the total US area. While Yukon-Koyukuk in Alaska represents 0.0018% of the total population but 3.89% of the total US area.

So a county map gives Yukon-Koyukuk 590,000 times more weight per person than those 4 counties. But I guess that tells the story, huh?

Sorry I must of missed the response...I will go look for it.

It would be terrific if people would discuss shite instead of yelling over each other all the time.

Because this entire board believes that Trump is wildly popular with the entire country.

That simply isn't true. He has some very loyal core followers, but they hardly make up the majority of Americans.

His inability to lead his party is the reason he is struggling with his agenda. He never takes responsibility for his frick ups and now that is hurting his ability to govern. I have high hopes his new chief of staff actually reigns him in so he can get down to taking care of the American people, instead of fretting over his next tweet.

It would be a welcomed change.

Well a popular vote correlates much better with the EC vote than a binary County level results.

Even though this was 1 of only 4 elections with a popular vote EC split (1824 the candidate with the most PV and EC lost by a house vote instead), and this was the largest popular vote victory with an EC loss, it still is much closer to the EC result (16.4% difference) than the county level result with the EC (54.4% difference).

So you can refute the Popular Vote with the fact that the EC vote decides the election, BUT using the county vote is just a terrible representation, far worse than using the PV. And the map representation is when worse.
quote:

You see the electoral votes ARE THE NEWTONS!
So why not use that instead of the terrible county map that is the absolute worst representation?

The EC is a proxy for population at least, as it derived by population proportion.

Actually, it doesn't. As you well know. But by all means continue to pretend it does.

More Americans voted for the worst Democratic candidate in the history of the nation then the worst Republican candidate. That is a fact. Showing maps of empty land doesn't change that fact.
