Good guy, not ultra conservative but still pretty conservative. Well liked, never been a big time camera whore or attention seeker
In what way is he not ultra conservative? He has one of the highest conservative voting records in the country. Are you one of those boomers who thinks everyone who doesn't agree Trump 100% of the time isn't a conservative?

Then what is the argument exactly?

If an openly Christian politician is voted in the office. His constituents are going to require him to vote from that same perspective. So by default, he's an acting Christian policies.

This is what every politician does with their respective belief system

Yes and I generally disagree that our leaders should support policies based solely on their religious beliefs. Lots of folks disagree with me...lots of folks agree with me.

When Johnson makes statements like "It is not ‘bigotry’ to remind people of God’s claims on our lives and biological reality.”....Idk... I think it goes beyond allowing your personal held religious beliefs to simply inform some or portion
of your policy...its full on ...because God says so.

Is there a difference, in your mind, between a leader supporting policies based on the politician’s beliefs versus that politician supporting policies based on his constituents’ beliefs?

Yes but I would apply the same opinion.

I HOPE AND PRAY THAT HE TAKE HIS OATH SERIOUSLY….DEADLY SERIOUSLY…AND SUPPORT AND TRIGGER THE ANNIHILATION OF THE DOMESTIC ENEMIES OF THE CONSTITUTION.

That is all.

I mean obviously values inform policy priorities and religion informs values, but who in the world has ever dictated policy solely on religious beliefs?

Eta , now I get , like democrats and climate change.

Johnson comes as close to that as anyone in Congress. I mean for fricks sake he was in favor of criminalizing sodomy between consenting adults. I've heard secular arguments against gay marriage, abortion, pornography.....but wanting to criminalize shite that goes on in the bedroom between consenting adults?

Wow, thanks for sharing some of his Xweets OU Guy.

If he can get this one done ASAP, it would be a warning shot across the bow of the deep state ....

There are countless numbers of secular driven laws banning activity between two consenting adults. I'd love to hear his argument to assess. But given that particular activity was a primary driver of a global health pandemic in the 80s, it's not hard to make a secular case.

What is different between a position based on religious beliefs and one based on whatever else? Political ideology practically has the effects as religion to many people.

In todays world that makes him a centrist.

If a politician has not been accepting bribes from Iran, China, Egypt and our other enemies, he is a freak and a "danger to our democracy".

No. It is not true.

It is the stupidity that anti-Christians throw out and it is tiresome.

I am atheist. I am not anti-Christian.

Yes. He is one of those dummies that believes the Earth is only 10,000 years old. I mean he may believe that dinosaurs were on the ark or something.

Yeah agreed. He's not that great. Not sure if he is "pathetic" though.
