Pretty sure Lindsey Graham was a JAG officer for years even while in office. Matter of fact, if I am not mistaken - which I am not, he just retired as an Airforce Colonel in 2015 after serving 33 years in various capacities.

Want to bet she doesn't know that?

or maybe she is going to propose throwing a few billion at a new oppressed group

(I didn't know that either but then again I am not running a campaign).

She can hold political office while serving as a member of the Reserve Component.

From a decommissioned lt. Col:

“If you still hold your commission, you are not supposed to express political views (not even bumper stickers) publicly, Even if you are in reserve status or retired. I have seen some retired general officers on TV cross the line when they move from analyzing military affairs(which is OK) to politics, which is not OK. If you have resigned your commission, you are no longer bound by the UCMJ or uniform code of military justice.“

He means well but he is wrong. Officers in the Reserve Component can and do hold elective office. I can name many off the top of my head.

Congressman Brad Wenstrup - Army Reserve
Former Congressman Joe Heck - Army Reserve

Active Component officers cannot hold elective office.

Just because a few or many break the code doesn’t make it ok. You can cite all the examples you would like.

There is no code they are breaking. They can and do hold office.
