MODERATOR: The Secretary has time for a few questions. Josh Lederman, AP?

QUESTION: Thank you, Mr. Secretary. On several occasions – thank you. On several occasions, the President has publicly undermined your diplomatic efforts. In recent days, White House officials have said that you are going to be pushed out. And these are not media inventions. These are coming from the White House.

Many Americans see these efforts as humiliating to you. You have had an illustrious career. Why do you put up with it? Why don’t you quit?

SECRETARY TILLERSON: This is a narrative that keeps coming up about every six weeks. And I would say you all need to get some new sources, because your story keeps being wrong.

"Journalists" just have no dignity, aren't even phased to get called out like that anymore.

No agenda there, no sir.

Just an objective, principled journalist trying to find truth for the public.

This journalist is merely an instrument of honest, transparent exposure. A beacon of light piercing the dense fog of misinformation and corruption.

IF this information did indeed come from the Whitehouse, the journalist was likely duped into reporting FAKE NEWS by intentionally leaked information designed to flush out unauthorized leakers. These guys just cannot help themselves.

I agree.

I believe Trump and his trusted inner circle have been doing this for awhile to out leakers. Remember when he said, "The leaks are real, the news is fake"? Feburary 2017. Well he's telling everyone EXACTLY what he is doing. Is anyone listening? Apparently not everyone.

What did the journalist do wrong here?

Is it not a legitimate question?

It is not a legitimate question. It is agenda driven rhetoric.

Who's place is it to determine when Rex is embarrassed?

Who's place is it to determine when he and Trump are acting at odds?

It’s a legitimate question from an illegitimate journalist.

Never thought of that. It's a great plan and a no-lose situation.

It is a legitimate question.

If I am in, say, Portugal and the Prime Minister says "X" about some foreign policy issue an the Foreign Minister says "Y" about it, yes, this is an issue. This is also an issue in the USA. Imagine if Reagan had given his "Mr Gorbachev Tear Down This Wall" speech and George Schultz had said in the following days, "Well, the Wall is there and will remain and we understand that, the most important thing is peace and good relations". How is that not a question? Same with Trump today.

Subjective assertion. Not factual.

quote:

White House officials have said that you are going to be pushed out

This was declared fake news. Why keep repeating it?

Oh really. Sure about that?

Why not ask the secretary if these fake efforts are humiliating to him instead of assuming they are humiliating?

That's what he did wrong. A lot of unfounded assumptions and assertions with the goal of stoking derision between Trump and Tillerson with the hopes of Trump driving Tillerson out because Tillerson is doing a FANTASTIC job at State which is bad for non-productive State employees and great for American tax payers.

Talk about maximum effort put forth here to create a rift between POTUS and Tillerson. These people are truly scum and pathetic. This is just tons of hyperbole trying to get Tillerson pissed off at Trump and create issues in the Whitehouse....so OF COURSE they have more fodder to put into the news headlines. These people are real true sons of bitches.

No, he didn't do it wrong, he knew exactly what he was doing. He's trying to get a major reaction out of Tillerson so he's magnifying everything Trump has ever said to an extreme degree.

This is the game the liberal media plays and they do it so very very very well.

Eurocat, you've been humiliated on the PoliTalk time and time again, and you've clearly shown a deep hatred and anger to other posters, and you have mental issues that need to be addressed, and other lib posters have trashed you as well. You should probably just quit posting and go cry in a corner.

How do you respond to these things exactly? This is a legitimate question.

Where did Trump say Tillerson was going to be "pushed out?"

Without that, your analogy doesn't fit. That isn't to say on other occasions Trump has zigged when his employees have zagged; but there seems to be no proof on this one.

A simple, "Sec Tillerson, are you aware of any efforts to push you out?" would have been sufficient.

But that isn't DRAMATIC enough.

They must have an internal corporate media training program at these networks for these journalists that teaches them how to be douchebags.

I think it has been covered, but I'll play anyway.

"Mr. Tillerson, on Dec x, President Trump staed"Xxxx", on his vist to China, 3 days prior you stated "Yyyy". How do you explain this apparent lack of agreement on this foreign policy issue?"

That's a legitimate question. It does not ascribe or assume motive or feeling to either Trump or Tillerson. It lays out facts and asks for them to clarify.

Follow-up: "The FAILLING NYT reports that you are embarrassed by this, do you agree with that assessment?"

I guess we should not expect more from the "Press", just our politicians, and then only when they play for the other team.
