From personal experience - very recently - I can tell you Athens has a homeless/druggie/migrant problem.
One of my kids lives there, and I went to visit in January. I stayed at a name brand hotel on the outskirts of Athens proper. There were dozens of drunk, high, mentally unbalanced vagrants loitering in the hotel parking lot asking for cash.
I told my kid about it, and they said Athens sets-up camps in fields in & around the town - where they can stay in their tents…. But there is high crime in those areas. Now, with immigrants coming in, the town has set-up shelters

Yeah apparently UGA needs $7 million in beefed up security so students can ran some laps around the intramural fields without getting beat to death, but illegal immigration has nothing to do with it and Trump said some mean shite in Charlottesville. It's going to take extreme measures to combat these people
