Louisiana vs. Massachusetts: Gun Violence (2024)
Louisiana has one of the highest firearm death rates in America, while Massachusetts has one of the lowest. According to Johns Hopkins’ analysis of finalized CDC data for 2024, Louisiana’s firearm death rate was approximately six times Massachusetts’ rate. Center for Gun Violence Solutions +2
Louisiana
22.3
Gun deaths per 100,000 residents
Massachusetts
3.9
Gun deaths per 100,000 residents
Side-by-side comparison
2024 measure Louisiana Massachusetts
Total gun deaths 1,031 287
Firearm homicides 562 96
Firearm suicides 443 184
Firearm deaths, ages 1–17 70 13
Gun homicide rate per 100,000 12.2 1.3
Gun suicide rate per 100,000 9.6 2.5
Center for Gun Violence Solutions +3
The most striking differences
* Gun homicide: Louisiana’s rate was approximately 9.4 times Massachusetts’ rate.
* Gun suicide: Louisiana’s rate was approximately 3.8 times Massachusetts’ rate.
* Children: Louisiana recorded 70 firearm deaths among ages 1–17, compared with 13 in Massachusetts.
* National standing: Louisiana had the second-highest firearm homicide rate nationally; Massachusetts had the second-lowest overall firearm death rate. Center for Gun Violence Solutions +1
Bottom line
The homicide comparison is particularly revealing. Massachusetts isn’t simply benefiting from fewer firearm suicides. The risk of dying in a firearm homicide is dramatically lower than in Louisiana, based on statewide population-adjusted mortality rates.
These differences are substantial, although the statistics alone cannot tell us how much is attributable to gun laws, poverty, urban conditions, policing, or other factors.
You can compare the original reports directly: Johns Hopkins Louisiana?? and Johns Hopkins Massachusetts??.

Tell him as many black people shoot each other in Mass as LA, there are just a lot fewer in Mass.

Guess what else Massachusetts has a lot less of than Louisiana?

Ask your friend to compare demographics and get back to us.

Tell your Boston friend to stay out of Louisiana because it's not safe here.
Stay away.
Stay away.

I love how demographic data is left out purposely so people have to sit there and act like they don’t know why.

Louisiana
Gun Homicides: the firearm homicide rate among white residents is significantly lower, at 3.4 deaths per 100,000 people.
Send that stat to your buddy and it might explain a lot.

You are pretty stupid aren't you? Seriously. Nothing stands out to you why the large discrepancies?
I'll give you a hint. Do demographics of each state. Thanks.

Some people are just willfully ignorant of the cause for the homicide rate.
Compare demographics and notice any difference?

Louisiana has 5 times more blacks by percentage of population and more than double by raw numbers.
There's also a cultural difference between shooters in Yankeeville and the south. It's not even close.

Then ask him to compare total homicide between the US and the rest of the world. The rest of the world doesn’t have the 2A, so that should also be an interesting explanation from him.

Send him this..
Black or African American residents make up approximately 10.2% of the total population in Massachusetts. Black or African American residents make up approximately 33% of the total population in Louisiana.
Any questions?

Take out the hood rats in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Shreveport and Louisiana is ranked way down low.
BTW, what is Mass considering 'children' ? 12-17 years old?
Notice how the left wing scum bags throw in suicides in as 'Gun Violence'?
If a person takes their own life, then that is on them.
One of my favorite comebacks to the left-wing scum is that matches cause arson,

About 15 years ago, I had to spend three weeks in Massachusetts for work. On one hand, I could count the number of black people I saw the entire three weeks and on the other hand, I could count the number of good looking women I saw during that same three week period.
