Social Security in 2022 - pays out more than takes in

And neither political party thinks there is a problem.
Will we simply add the shortfalls to the annual trillion dollar deficit?

And Bernie would have us increase it 10 fold

Too bad there isn't some source of human capital just across the border ready, willing, and eager to work and pay social security taxes, thus solving the problem of the declining birth rate in the U.S. and the concurrent massive retirement of the baby boom generation.

Let’s ask Europe how that strategy panned out

It's like a Ponzi scheme, but with people!

I think it is ridiculous to argue that social security funding is a sufficient reason to expand immigration.
Get displaced manufacturing workers into other professions. We have 7 million job openings in America and millions of working age adults who are out of labor force because they have up.
That's another way to save social security.

It isn't just Social Security that is in jeopardy as a result of the decline in birth rates. It is also GDP. Consumer spending. And the ability of the U.S. to compete globally. Look at what happened to the economy of Japan as a result of the plummet in the birth rate in Japan.
There is not a consensus correlation between population growth and economic performance.
German and Scandinavian birth rates have fallen pretty hard and their economies seem to be on stable, firm ground.

Al Gore proposed using the annual budget surplus to shore up social security because we all know this was coming with baby boomers retirement. He made it a central part of his campaign. But GW Bush won and threw the money away. So here we are with republicans facing reality and wondering what to do.

Quit paying able bodied foljks to do nothing all day and this problem resolves itself with all the folks you describe staying put just where they are.

This is why unneeded immigration and bs refugee imports must end. We need to reduce the human foot print in this country by 20% as it currently stands.

It's absolutely horrible how their GDP per capita keeps increasing.

One would think America quite had its fill of Seth Rogen.

Wrong:
LINK
The best thing to do is end SS, slash medicaid/medicare eventually ending it, close close down Nasa, reconfigure SNAP to include less junk and cut the military budget by 80% and end corporate welfare.

In fact, the government has recorded budget surpluses in only five years since 1969, most of them under Democratic President Bill Clinton.
In all-too rare times when revenue equals spending, the budget is called “balanced.”

You really think that’s feasible?

Too bad American's are murdering their babies in the womb, because they could have grown up, joined the workforce and paid taxes.

Typical liberal. Consider humans as "capital". And ignorant enough to think that capital will immigrate legally and actually pay into social security.
Posted on 4/28/18 at 6:28 am to matthew25
If you are under 50, by the time you retire there will be no social security or Medicare for you.
Plan accordingly.

Well, at least when the Government steals from Social Security, they’ll be using it to pay for Social Security????
