I have a congressman friend. He says that 1/3rd of congress are ideological wackos, 1/3rd are there strictly for money and power, and 1/3rd are actually there to do the right things.

The current batch of self proclaimed. Texas GOP leadership wants to do a closed primary. Much of that is driven by Dunn and other West Texas oil that figure, if they can close the primary, it makes the primaries a lot cheaper for them to control
The West Texas, Republicans have taken over the party to have the speaker. They own the lieutenant governor governor AG
They have this very harsh litmus test for what they think makes you a conservative and if you don't meet every single one of those criteria you're out

You won't be able to remove either, even with explosives for the next 18 years minimum. So the era of GOP in leadership will be over.
