Well the two illegals who could not speak English that allegedly raped a 14 yr are innocent according to Andrew Jezic because it was consentual.

I guess the 14 yr old girl must have been fluent in Spanish to give consent and I'm sure she was very excited to be tag teamed by two low life's that had no business in this country let alone registered as freshmen in a Maryland high school when their ages are 17/18 yrs old. Hmmmm....., I wonder if that was Jezic's daughter if he would be making such bold statements.

Baltimore Sun's report on rape of 14 yr old

The old "she's a slut" defense? tPOS lawyer. I guess he doesn't have any other argument if there's DNA and evidence of physical violence.

Problem for him is the Spanish word for "no" is "no".

I'm not sure if he's a sleaze bag, but he's certainly an idiot for making a statement.

I've never given a statement to the media about one of my cases, and I have a hard time conceiving of a scenario in which I would.

I guess the resident PT rapist thought this thread needed a down vote.

This pisses me off, but to be fair, we need to wait for the evidence to come out.

Still, unless the 14 year old is the "cash me outside" girl, it's hard to imagine it was consensual.

I'm not, but even if I was, it doesn't make sense from a practical perspective. I could do an all out media blitz on a few of my cases if I really wanted to, but all I would accomplish is stretching a week long period of jury selection to three weeks while I watch everyone who would be sympathetic to my client get struck for cause for coming in already knowing too much about the case.

The consent defense is obvious and his statement doesn't hurt anything. He gets his name out there a little bit.

Unless you have nuclear bomb type material, it has always seemed desperate to me.

A fourteen year old cannot give consent. What law school did Mr. Jezic attend?

I was curious and looked up the Maryland law. A 14 year old can give consent to a partner who isn't more than four years older.

It's probably desperation, or a little self-promotion, but when it's a national story, and is overwhelmingly negative, I could see the reasoning behind trying to get something in the public realm counter to everything else.

On the contrary, I'm looking for this to die down as quickly as possible so I can begin working with a DA who isn't afraid they will be skinned alive if they don't throw the book at my client.

Not really. I think it's absurd that we put teenagers in highschool with one another but tell them that, if they have sex with one another, they will be committing felonies. If you think they are so different in development that you're willing to lock one of them in a cage for having consensual sex, you shouldn't have them in school together in the first place.
